We had an exceptional stay here. The entire site is classy, well maintained and high quality. The rooms are jaw dropping and we were lucky enough to get an upgrade which was much appreciated!! We loved the guided kayak, the safari and the nature walk - all super informative and well catered for, with food / equipment. The staff were lovely and so accommodating for any requests. We absolutely loved the rice and curry here. Stay!!!! You won’t regret it.

“A wonderful stay and a great safari.”

This was our second stay at a Taru Villas property and we were not disappointed. We were upgraded to a room with a plunge pool, which was a lovely surprise. The location, room (which was fantastic), the staff and the food were all excellent. We visited Wilpattu instead of Yala because we'd heard how crazily busy Yala is. We did a full day safari with Praneeth from Taru Villas, and Kanchana the safari driver. It felt like a true adventure, and Praneeth's knowledge combined with Kanchana's driving skills meant that we saw many animals, including a leopard, along with the most beautiful birds. It felt like we were the only ones in the park most of the time.

the staff is extremely kind, service is impeccable. We had to stay an extra three days due to cyclone Ditwah and floods in the area. Taru is the best place to be in isolation, we felt safe, and were taken very good care of, even though staff was busy looking after the property and reaching out to their families and the local community.

“One of the best places we have ever stayed”

The property and staff were brilliant from start to finish. We arrived later than we had expected as our driver, who we booked separately from the hotel, took us the wrong way (it is worth clarifying the location as this entrance to the park is fairly new we were told but is very close to Backwaters and Wild Wadi accommodations too, which are on the same road) . When finally arrived, we were greeted with cold flannel towels, bags brought to our room and a tour of our beautiful room. Also a BBQ banquet of meat, fish and vegetables was delivered to our room when we arrived as we were so tired from a day of travel! All the food was incredibly delicious throughout. Bit shoutout to Jeewan who made our stay extra special and attended to our every need! We booked onto a Wilpattu safari via the hotel and did not regret! We have come out of season so our expectations were low but still managed to see a leopard and elephants - another big shoutout to Sandaal (not sure on spelling) who spoke fantastic English and was so knowledgeable about animal tracks, behaviour and different species.

Absolutely incredible hotel - staff go so above and beyond to help and be hospitable. Accommodation is stunning and out of this world. Food is excellent and only 10 mins from Wilpattu park.

Everything was amazing - the staff, the facilities, the setting. We have stayed at many upmarket places in Sri Lanka and abroad, and Taru Villas Villu just gets it all right - tasteful without being stuffy, helpful without being over the top. We also did one half day safari, and one full day safari organised through the hotel. We would recommend the full day (not two half days) as you get further into the park so you can see things and places you can’t access in a half day trip. The guide Surjan was exceptional and you should request him (he is passionate, speaks fluent English, and is highly educated and extremely knowledgeable about the park, conservation, and Sri Lanka generally).

The staff were all amazing! Everyone was attentive and helped with anything we needed. The food was amazing. The whole experience was 5 star! We were able to use Kayaks while we were there which was such a special experience. The staff assisted us with the Safari and even came with us as a guide. Wonderful experience!

This hotel is an incredible experience. The villa with plunge pool is absolute luxury . Food is excellent with an abundance of options. Most of all the staff are incredible - friendly and can not do enough for you, you receive a very personal and tailored experience.

“Spectacular stay with our family at Taru Villas”

What an outstanding hotel in a beautiful private setting close to Wilpattu National Park. The villas were exceptional - we had one with a jacuzzi pool and adjoining room which was perfect for our family of four and very private. Beautifully furnished with everything you could wish for. The staff again were amazing, so friendly and always there with a smile. We loved our tours with the resident naturalist Praneeth who was so knowledgeable about the wildlife and made our safari. We also did the mangrove tour with sundowners on a sandbank and kayaking along a serene beautiful river. Would highly recommend.

Amazing place to stay as like us you looking to back to the origine where nature and clean environment is the main attraction. The small luxury hotel is extremely well organized and the bungalows distributed on the property in beautifull way with gardens, trees and front lake! We booked a bungalow with pool and it was amazing, super large, comfortable bed, living room, bathroom extra size!!! The Staff was amazing from Marc that received us and take care all the time, Gaya, Jewewan and Chef Swadth just to mentions the more closer to us in these days but all were super kind. We had a fantastic dinner for San Valentine that will remain in our memories forever. They arrange for us the visit to the Park and follow us there. All was over any best expectations and is HIGLY reccomended place to go to have unforgettable moments!!
