10/10 The star of the show was the restaurant! The husband and wife team as well as their son! The food was truly exquisite! Each year for our anniversary we try different fine dining restaurants and this one was truly unique, the attention to detail and thought that goes into each dish is absolutely superb. One of the dishes took my brain back to my childhood and I was in tears! Just brilliant! They also gave us a beautiful card for our anniversary!! “Serendipity - An amazing local experience, and a scenic gem.”

We spent a week at Serendipity in their Master Suite and absolutely loved every moment of our luxury stay. From the moment we arrived, the environment felt safe, welcoming and beautifully maintained. The staff were warm, attentive and made the experience feel both personal and effortless. The suite itself was immaculate, comfortable and thoughtfully designed, making it the perfect space to relax and unwind. Breakfast each morning was delicious, and their on-site award winning restaurant truly exceeded expectations. We opted for the bespoke 5/8 course tasting menu, and it was an unforgettable culinary experience - every dish was carefully crafted by their incredibly talented chef - Lizelle. Booking in advance is essential, and well worth it. The location is equally special, with so much to do in and around Wilderness - from hiking and canoeing to exploring nearby shops and markets. I would highly recommend this to any couple looking for a peaceful getaway and the chance to experience a truly local, scenic gem.

Superb location and excellent accommodation. An easy walk into town. The staff were extremely helpful. The meal we had in the restaurant was fantastic, great flavours and the use of local produce introducing us to tastes we’ve never tried before. The matching wines were great and from less well known areas of SA. In the UK it would have all cost twice as much.

We were there for dinner, stayed overnight and had breakfast in the morning. We felt welcome and looked after every second of the stay. We can highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!

An excellent house in a great location that we can heartily recommend. The dinner we enjoyed was outstanding prepared with great creativity and skill, and wine pairing with the food was perfect.

I loved the location, right on the river. I liked being able to borrow a boat to row up the river. And above all the restaurant was absolutely amazing and must be the main reason for anybody to visit. Local ingredients and innovative cuisine make this a must visit culinary highlight on the garden route.

This place is a little gem. Little things like a magnifying mirror in the bathroom is a bonus. Very clean and comfortable beds. Canoeing free of charge . Fabulous river trip from near by. Excellent food organised in the evening. Either a 5 course or 8 course menu . We had the 5 course which was 5 star . Michelin equivalent. Ben the manager was great along with the staff. Thank you, we will be back.

“A Truly Special Stay. Boutique Luxury, Exceptional Staff and Unforgettable Wildlife”

We stayed at Belle Balance Bush Lodge for three nights as a family group, my husband, our two daughters and their partners and it was absolutely fabulous from start to finish. The lodge is truly beautiful: boutique in style, thoughtfully designed, and impeccably maintained. Our rooms were exceptional and so beautifully appointed, with super comfy beds. The staff were outstanding and made the experience feel really personal. A special mention must go to Lulu, Googoo and Junior, who were all exceptional and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The food was superb, fresh, high-quality ingredients throughout. We’d pre-warned the lodge that our group included four vegans and two vegetarians, and the chef went to great lengths to create wonderful meals for us. Thoughtful, creative and absolutely delicious menu every night, so good that we’re fairly sure other guests were a little envious! The game drive was fantastic, but what really made the stay magical was the wildlife right on our doorstep. Bernard, one of the resident hippos, visited most evenings just outside the restaurant and our rooms, which was an absolute delight. We also regularly had giraffes wandering across the lawns, calmly dining on the nearby trees, unforgettable moments. This is a truly special place. We honestly couldn’t fault a single thing and are already talking about when we can return. Highly, highly recommended.

Spacious room with patio and beautiful view over the Touws river. very tranquil and quiet. canoes available for use. Great restaurant on property was a unexpected bonus - world class chefs! Safe with parking inside, also for our bikes. Walking trails, river, restaurants, beach, shops close by. very friendly and helpful hosts. love Wilderness!
