Everything was outstanding! The king size beds along with beautiful bathrooms give the rooms a luxurious feel. Then you can have a bath in a seperate bath house overlooking the rainforest. Spectacular to say the least. Loved it

“A magical rainforest retreat”

We had a wonderful time at Wairua Lodge. The location is truly magical, completely surrounded by lush rainforest and local wildlife. It was great to explore the walking tracks built right around the property, and the outdoor hot tub and bath are absolute highlights that you have to try. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the breakfast featuring fresh local produce was a delicious way to start the morning. This is the perfect place for anyone who loves being close to nature.

Great place for a peaceful retreat. The location is tucked away in the forest, about a 10–15 minute drive out from Whitianga, which made it feel very private and relaxing. The room was cozy, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The fire pit was definitely a highlight of our stay — Debbie and Ernst even provided marshmallows and biscuits to make s’mores, which was such a thoughtful touch. You can tell everything about the property has been carefully thought out. There are also a few walking trails around the property, along with some beautiful swimming spots by the river to explore. The shared guest kitchen came in handy for cooking breakfast, and the included continental breakfast was lovely. Debbie’s homemade bread was absolutely delicious, and I loved that the jam was homemade by her neighbour and the honey was locally made as well. Those little local touches made the experience feel even more special. Perfect stay overall — 10/10, highly recommend.

Everything, from the room to being able to swim in the river, it was excellent. Lots of attention to detail and very tastefully done. Highlights hot tub looking at the stars, BBQ with the pit fire and swimming in the river. Wished we could have stayed longer.

It was a beautiful, peaceful place in the forest with watering holes in the river, walking trails and lovely communal areas, hot tub and treetop bath house.. The hosts were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, including fruit, ham, granola, yoghurt, local honey, homemade bread, and eggs. We had the two bedroomed apartment which was spacious, modern and comfortable with its own kitchen and outside areas. At night the stars were beautiful and it was so quiet.

What a fabulous place to spend a couple of days or more, having spent almost a month travelling around NZ this was an opportunity to do very little for a couple of days, recharge our batteries and be at one with nature without sacrificing life's little luxuries! The owners have put a lot of effort and thought into the offer. From the locally made soap in the bathroom and jams at breakfast to the homemade bread, and eggs from the chickens on site. The shared kitchen is extremely well presented and the opportunity to cook on the open fire pit is a wonderful experience. We cooked a half butterflied leg of lamb! The rooms were compact and beautifully presented, quality linen with very comfortable beds. There were several places to sit and take in the view around the property as well as the table and chairs on the patio outside each room. We had a wonderful day walking the short trails on the property and taking a dip in the swimming pond in the river.

Accommodation was exceptional, grounds were lovely, the signposted trails and swimming holes, the home baked bread, fabulous honey and jam, it was all excellent!

We had such a lovely stay! Debbie and Ernst were incredibly warm and thoughtful hosts - they showed us around the property, shared great tips, and even provided boots and shovels for the activities. The breakfast spread was fantastic - fresh, generous, and easy to prepare either in-room or in the well-stocked shared kitchen. Our room was beautiful with a very comfortable bed. We also loved all the little touches around the property, from the hot tub and outdoor bath with music and candles to the cute trails and the stack of DVDs to borrow.

I don't have enough good things to say about Wairua Lodge! We had such a special stay here and cannot wait for our next visit. Every detail of the stay was so well thought out, from the homemade breakfast delivered the evening before to the hot tub and rainforest bath, the trails around the property (with glow worms and swimming holes to explore), the fire pit you could cook dinner on, shovels you could borrow for Hot Water Beach. And so much more! Debbie and Ernst were wonderful hosts. We will definitely be back!

This is an exceptional lodge. The location is truly wonderful amidst rain forest with a stream running through for swimming and places to sit and enjoy the beauty and tranquility. The facilities are very comfortable with everything you need. Debbie makes her own delicious bread and much.local produce provided.

Myself and my husband spent two nights in Wairua lodge as part of our honeymoon trip. It could only be described as a piece of heaven, the calmness and relaxation is hard to put into words. Everything from the amazing hosts, Debbie and Ernest, the luxurious bedding, the amazing trails, the fresh breakfast made up of Debbie’s homemade bread, honey from the property and much more and the spa bath and hot tub! We were in complete awe of the place and still talking about it! Highly recommend:)

We absolutely loved our stay here at Wairua Lodge! So relaxing in the forest not far from town and the facilities there are amazing. Our favourite was the outdoor bath. We will definitely be back in the future. Debbie and Ernst were amazing host and the breakfast was amazing.
