Very nice stay at Waterberg Wilderness! The lodge is located in a beautiful setting with breathtaking views over the Waterberg Plateau. Both the restaurant and the rooms offer incredible panoramic scenery, making the whole experience feel very special and peaceful. One of the highlights of our stay was definitely the afternoon/evening game drive and the rhino walk in the conservancy area. It was an amazing experience to see the wildlife so close and learn more about the conservation work being done there. The lodge itself is very charming and a perfect stop for 1–2 nights when traveling to or from Windhoek. The atmosphere is relaxing, surrounded by nature, and ideal for enjoying the beauty of the Waterberg region. The only small downside was the communication during check-in. Nobody informed us that there was complimentary cake and coffee available between 2 and 4 pm, which would have been nice to know after arriving. We also did not receive hot water for tea or coffee in the room during our stay. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our stay overall and would definitely recommend Waterberg Wilderness for its stunning views, great activities, and unique location.

Stunning Views, Disappointing Stay: Overpriced and Underwhelming Experience

The location is clearly the standout feature here, offering a sensational panoramic view. Unfortunately, everything else feels rather mediocre - especially considering the high prices being charged. This is not due to the staff, who genuinely go above and beyond in their efforts. The food was disappointing and more reminiscent of a German highway service station. It is delivered daily from the main lodge, which likely explains the lack of freshness and quality. We stayed in Chalet 3, which is in clear need of renovation and maintenance. The mosquito net over the bed, full of holes, is more of an antique decoration than actual protection. The window screens were also damaged, with several large holes. The so-called “plunge pool” is essentially a plastic water barrel set into the ground - something you have to like to appreciate. The main pool of the lodge is located right next to the parking area, which is not very inviting, and it also lacks sun loungers. Overall, given the steep price, we felt completely ripped off. For us, this was a one-time visit - and that may very well be exactly what the operators are counting on: take the money once, then move on to the next guest.

Beautiful wilderness stay with Rhino protection

We booked the wilderness Lodge in the beautiful surroundings of the Waterberg Plateau. Views were stunning and there were lots of nice hikes in the area. Breakfast and dinner were included and served by very welcoming and friendly staff. The meals were delicious and they even cooked veggie alternatives for me (thank you!). The rooms were very spacious and well maintained. It was beautiful to sit on the patio outside and enjoy the pools with fresh spring water. The highlight of the trip was definitely the Rhino walking tour with our Guide Weasley. It was incredible how at ease these magnificent rhinos were with us so close by. Truly a highlight of the entire trip! Price ranges a bit higher, but it's all going towards Rhino protection which I loved to contribute to. We also did an adventurous hike with our Guide Pedro up to the Plateau and had a stunning view over the Kalahari. We would recommend staying here any time!

Seven, the highlight is the Rhino walk, the place is basic, a bit overpriced for what’s offer, the food is limited. But overall for a night it’s fine.

Great - would recommend

Very good choice for the Waterberg area. Amazingly immersive views of the Waterberg on three sides of the room. Staff are super friendly, and the food is good given the location. If you’re lucky you can see some pretty unique wildlife on the drive up to the hotel.

A lovely rustic property with amazing views and friendly staff.

The location and views were wonderful and the property had a very cozy, bucolic feel. The staff were very friendly. The room was basic but very comfortable. The Rhino drive offered by the property was excellent.

Beautiful location in a very green, forested area of Namibia!

The area is so different from the rest of Namibia, absolutely stunning area. Gorgeous wildlife, highly recommend supporting them by going on one of their on site safaris (we saw so much wildlife!). All the staff, including at the gates were all awesome as well as the 'special' staff around the area that help keep everything together. They have different types of accommodation, so see which type suits your needs. Beautiful views from the restaurant. Make sure you buy the things you need beforehand as they have a gift store and a restaurant only (in this location at least). But there is no fridge in the room as you are in the nature! But at least there is hot water! ;)

Comfortable stay in an incredibly stunning part of the world - Really feel a part of nature.

Lovely rooms/tents, very comfortable beds and the whole property is in THE most stunning location. The view from the dining area was completely spectacular. Sadly it rained during our visit so we couldn't do any walks and the roads up to the property were fun but challenging.
