Overview
Set at 1500 metres above the sea level and on the trail of Tatranska Magistrala in the Mengusovska Valley in the High Tatras, this hotel is a 60-minute hike from Strbske Pleso. Horský Hotel Popradské Pleso is 200 metres away from the lakeshore of Popradske Pleso Lake and features a restaurant with traditional Slovak meals and international cuisine. The bar is open daily. Hotel Horsky offers an outdoor terrace. Guests can buy souvenirs at the reception. The Strbske Pleso ski area with cross-country skiing tracks is 4 km away. Ski storage is available at the hotel. Horský Hotel Popradské Pleso is a good starting point to go hiking and take part in guided alpine hikes to Gerlach or Vysoka, as well as join mountain climbing tours in the High Tatras.

“A special place: a wilderness wonder”
We arrived on April 27, and the lake was still frozen. What an amazing sight. The lodge was very comfortable, though quite basic. The cafeteria style restaurant served a better standard of food than we expected. We love that you cannot drive to the place, you must walk in and out, or catch the transfer (early or late in the day). It adds to the wilderness feeling.

A comfortable and clean stay. We chose a water view room with 2 beds and private bathroom. It was great value given the location and privacy that you don't often find in these mountain cottages. The wellness was gorgeous, and we got so lucky that it was only us there. Breakfast was well worth it, a massive selection with also vegan, GF alternatives.

Everything about this place makes it an absolute gem. The location is just extraordinary (we went in April so was snowy and just stunning), exceptional classic Slovakian dishes (we bought a few extra portions when we left to keep us going for a few days - for meat eaters, the cabbage soup is a must; for veggies, the mushroom soup and spinach lasagne!!!), the sauna/cold plunge was so luxurious, the walk around the lake is beautiful, the staff were very kind and helpful - what great value!!! We are already planning out trip back in summer... Just amazing. Wish we could give 100 stars!!

Incredible view and atmosphere, literally next to the lake, surrounded by the Tatra mountains. The food is great with a decent variety. The room has everything what you need for a good sleep after the hike, nothing more, but nothing else either.

Friendly reception staff and great location. Be sure to check sunset if you plan to hike there, though the hike from Strbske Pleso itself is not too challenging
