Overview
A striking 5-star hotel next to Mas Tinell Vineyards, Cava & Hotel Mastinell is set just outside Vilafranca del Penedès. It features innovative architecture and an amazing structure resembling a collection of stacked wine bottles with a Gaudí-esque, mosaic-tiled roof. The hotel won the Medalla de Oro de la Arquitectura award for best design, in Shanghai in 2011. Its contemporary rooms reflect the inside of a wine bottle, featuring a circular window with a mesh, bubble-like façade looking onto the vineyards. All rooms have air conditioning, flat-screen satellite TV, a Nespresso machine, free Wi-Fi and a private bathroom with free toiletries. The restaurant offers show cooking and creative Catalan cuisine served with local wines and cava. There is also a shop and a wine therapy room. The surrounding Penedès region is ideal for hiking, horse riding and cycling. The beaches of Sitges and Vilanova i la Geltrú are around 25 km away. You can reach the E15 Motorway in just 5 minutes and this connects you to the coast and to central Barcelona within 45 minutes.

“Photos don’t do it justice - a country getaway within a small run luxury setting.”
The pool was exceptional and the service was even better - it was beautifully set alongside the luscious vines and with a stunning view of the unique architecture of the hotel one one side and the skyline was the skyline of the rustic buildings in town on the other. It truly felt like an exclusive country indulgent getaway. And they kept everything very simple: a bottle of cava poolside, complimentary for guests to enjoy, a buzzer for bar service if you wanted more, the staff would ask you if you wanted a cold bottle of water on the way in, the spa staff collect you from your room - it felt family run but with a lot of professionalism and against a backdrop of luxury.

Breakfast was excellent and reflected the general high standard of the food served at this hotel. Our supper was one of the very best meals we have eaten in Spain. The location is very picturesque - the hotel is surrounded by beautifully tended vineyards and the architecture of the building is extraordinary and very chic.

We love the location - beautiful views and walks around the vineyards. Staff great really helpful and engaging. Nothing was too much trouble. Food amazing. Only 10 rooms so peaceful and intimate. Plenty of cupboard space and room stylish. Bed very comfortable. Only minor criticisms - No bedside tables and no where to put much in the bathroom and lack of shower curtain - stylish but not totally practical
