Memorable and enjoyable stay with truly excellent hosts

Warm welcome from Claude and Herve. Tasty dinner, cosy room, good shower and plenty of space. The opportunity to join the family for an impromptu apero was very memorable.

Excellent and quiet B&B

In just a few years, Hervé and Claude, our hosts and owners, transformed this traditional mill building into a wonderful oasis of edible and decorative plants and flowers, with a very interesting collection of poultry from around the world and honey from their own hives. The welcome was warm and sincere, and we dined in the “restaurant”, which is a traditionally decorated living-dining room. The meal was delicious; home-made with all local ingredients. There are two rooms available to guests at this B&B: an upper floor bedroom with large modernised bathroom (with shower and separate bath) and separate toilet, and a ground floor studio apartment with a well-equipped kitchen, bathroom and separate toilet. There is a pleasing view over the fields from the upper floor room and the village is peaceful and quiet. There are also other facilities available to guests. What pleased us most was the personal attention from Hervé who has a comprehensive knowledge of the plants in his wonderful garden. He also took the time to show us around and talk to us about many interesting things including the history and development of their property. Claude makes very delicious brown bread, which I miss in France. Breakfast was very French style, with bread, confiture, pastries and, of course, coffee. We highly recommend this B&B for discerning and country-loving visitors.

What a treat it was to find this charming stay. From the moment we arrived, our hosts, Claude and Hevere, were accommodating, engaging, and very helpful. We were welcomed with a 5 course home cooked dinner, accompanied by a story of local produce and history of recipies for each course. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable with a nice view of the countryside. Breakfast was accompanied by local jams and honey, and it was good coffee. We were very happy to support a local business, not far away from the highway. Please make some time to visit this perfect little stay.

Absolutely perfect

What a wonderful place this is with so much history, in the middle of the beautiful French countryside, just outside the tiny village of Vernot. Our bedroom was large with a lovely modern bathroom. A perfect stopping place on the way from Italy to the UK. Herve and his wife Claude could not do enough for us. Claude cooked us the most beautiful meal all made with local ingredients. We also had a delicious bottle of local red wine. They were both so kind and made us feel very welcome. I cannot recommend this property enough, you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful!

A beautiful and comfortable old house sympathetically renovated with all facilities. The village is remote but a lovely setting if you enjoy a rural retreat. The hosts were delightful and breakfast was good, home made bread , honey and jams as well as croissants, pain au chocolat .

A wonderfully welcome stay with interesting and friendly conversation.

Quiet rural location, with parking. Interesting garden with forna & flora. House and rooms have perfect decor with fitting furniture to make a welcoming and comfortable stay. Respectful of nature/environment, for all, including animals at the property. Back to natural organic and historical traditions where possible. Very interesting conversations with Herve & Claude both very knowledgeable of local area and traditions and history. A wonderful French evening meal by Claude and an ample breakfast feast.

Surpassed my expectations.

Extremely gracious hosts, great venue (specially if you like all things medieval - its an old mill built by the Templars in the 13-14th century), great dinner (table d'hote) with homemade plum apero, great wine :-) The room was great, slept like a bear, great breakfast. The hosts also have a great garden, a botanists delight, there are chickens, ducks, geese, a turkey and a pig - my kids would have loved it. Lovely quiet countryside, a small sleepy village ... just the place for someone driving a car from Spain to Stockolm alone to get some well deserved rest. I know there is wifi, but I don't care about it, plus in a place like this you want to detach yourself from all the antisocial media mumbo jumbo, and focus on the simple beauty of life.

A hidden gem in the countryside.

The welcome from the hosts was great, we were made to feel very welcome. They provided us with a hot drink and then we were able to see honey being harvested too. The accommodation is excellent and the bathroom is a generous size and features a corner bath. Lovely location with some excellent restaurants not too far away. It felt like a mini holiday! The breakfast was excellent with home made breads and jams and of course honey! I would not hesitate to go back

Excellent local sourced food from wonderful hosts in an interesting, comfortable 'small holding'.

Charming hosts and excellent food! I thoroughly recommend a stay at this eclectic and individual styled hotel, which is set in a small holding complete with pigs, rabbits and special breeds of chickens, though the animals did not impact on our peaceful stay! The hosts were exceptionally hospitable, greeting us with beer on their terrace overlooking the beautiful countryside and then giving us a guided tour of the renovations they have done to the property and their super cottage garden with lots of unusual plants - and Brunos the friendly pig! Their pride in their work, which is a lifestyle choice, shows clearly in how they treat their guests. The 4 course meal was one of the best 'local sourced' meals we have ever had, complete with homemade aperitif and a lovely bottle of Burgundy wine - an absolute bargain at only £75 in total for two of us! Breakfast is included and was plentiful with pastries, fruit, yoghurts and cheese. Our accommodation was self contained upstairs and had been finished to a high standard with a modern bathroom complete with a huge walk in shower and a corner bath and complimentary toiletries. Tea and coffee were provided in the room. The location is rural but easily accessible. We travelled on motorbike and there was safe parking in their garden. It is only a 15km to the Source of the Seine( worth a quick visit!) and there are several other places of interest within a short drive.

Outstanding rural idyll.

Charming building and hosts. Beautiful, big cool room with a very glamorous bathroom. Took advantage of the offer of an evening meal which was exceptionally good. Hosts have totally embraced self sufficiency with most of the produce being local or produced by them. Very conveniently placed in Burgundy as a stop over between Calais and the south. As an added bonus three species of owl nest in the barn or nearby woodland. Superb in all respects.

Peace, quiet and comfort

We liked the truly kind welcome, the comfortable bed, the strong shower, the room that was perfectly dark for sleeping, the calm of the village. We ate our evening meal in the B&B and had a traditional local home cooked meal which was excellent.

Silent and charming property on the countryside near Dijon

Warm reception by the host, whom is concerned about the well-being of his guests, received information and brochures for trips in the area, asked for 2 separate beds but got upgrade to a large and modern room on groundfloor (no steps) with newly installed bathroom and separate toilet, authentic elements, airco, tv and many electric sockets. It is a calm and quiet location, do not look for liveliness here. Parking space is in a small road slightly uphill behind the property. Additionally to continental breakfast received some fruit and chocolate bread. Possibility to diner (upfront reservation). Ideal to stay on the countryside, to visit Dijon and Beaune and to drive the Grand Crus wine route.
