Location, friendly staff

Great location - short walk to the cliff top. There’s a shop opposite which is handy. The main positive about this hostel is how social it is. The hosts have things organised every day so it’s easy to meet people. I extended my stay twice!

The guys from the stuff were both very nice and there were spaces to hang out and a couple of activities every day

1.Proximity to the beach. 2.Bonhomie among the guests from different nations created by the central porch area where one can sit on long tables and benches to work, play, eat or lunge around in strategically placed bean bags, swings, thick mattresses or the long clean steps itself. 3.The place is very clean and has dustbins placed everywhere.. 4.Atif, the owner/ manager with his patient demeanor and ever smiling face is very accommodating. 5.He has a vast functional network of other local service providers which helps arrange interesting activities of sightseeing or sports like kayaking everyday. Guests are free to choose to participate in these activities or not. 6. A self-help kitchen is another great idea. 7.There is also a small canteen in the lounge area where one can buy small meals, tea coffee, smoothies and juices. 8.Drugs are totally banned. 9.Smoking and drinking alcohol is permitted, in 10.Scooters are available on rent. 11. A well stoked supermarket right opposite provides all essentials and fruits and vegetables 12. Proximity to the Cliff Area where all the eateries are located.

“Good activities organised by the hostel”

The hostel has clean rooms, they cleaned the comon area every morning and the restaurant of the hostel has great food. They had a lot of activities such as Yoga in the morning, daily trips during the afternoon to really nice places in the surroundings, totally recommended.

Being a backpacker i prefer to book stays just for a day and extend only if, they have a good vibe. I was amazed to see such a lively place and extend it for another 4 days. Be it their ambience hospitality food everything was so good. people around (Goodwin and team) are so benevolent they go extra mile to ensure they give best in what they are doing. Being a reticent person i never expected that I would get a meet such a great people and mingle with.. Every other day they have some or other activity going on that's what makes this hostel standout.

Our room was was comfortable and spacious, and the hostel was just a short walk from the beach and Varkala's many excellent restaurants. The staff was also friendly and answered any questions that we had.

HostelExp is a great place to stay, because it has just a great atmosphere. The chill area is really nice and it is really easy to get to know new people. There are also events everyday, where everybody is welcome, which were really nice. You will go to the beach and play games, make a daytrip to the backwaters and much more. Also if you have any special interest, Goodwin will help you to make it happen. For me it was one of the best stays i had and i stayed for 9 days.

The hosts are always smiling and always ready to help you. The room was clean, we had air conditioning and the location is very close to the most important area of Varkala.

“Lovely social hostel”

Friendly and helpful staff. The vibe in the hostel was great, the manager goes out of his way to create a welcoming and communal environment. Made some great friends and had some great experiences. Dorm rooms are comfortable with lockers and a bathroom. AC comes on 8pm-8am. Close to the beach and restaurants. Cafe serves some nice food at ok prices.

Great people and the vibe of this property cannot be described. Goodwin and Atif are incredible hosts and have poured their heart and soul into this property.

This place is amazing! Location is great, a few minutes walking from the beach and restaurants. I have stayed in a private room ( as I was remote working) and conditions were good. Wi-Fi is perfectly good to remote work. The place itself is good, rooms are good, there’s is a kitchen and a nice outdoor common area but the highlight are the hosts and the vibe they are able to create. Can’t be more thankful by the way everything went - there were daily activities (in the hostel and outside) and it was so easy to meet other travelers. I was planning to stay for a week and ended up staying for two. To be honest I only left because I had to catch a flight!
