“Super little house high in the mountains”

Well equipped and great location right on the edge of the Parque. High altitude 3,600 feet, meant most nights and mornings were very cloudy and windy. This cleared by noon. Bright hot sunshine in Valle Gran Ray itself all day, and in the afternoons in the mountains (May). You need a car (we hired one for £200 for 2 weeks through Autos la Rueda in SS). Small but adequate bathroom. There is a drip from the boiler so you need to keep emptying the container every couple of days! Fantastic vegetarian restaurant right opposite. We ate there the first 3 nights then it closed for a month for the owners annual holiday so maybe check if you plan on using this regularly. The supermarkets in VGR were reasonably well stocked for vegetarian meals. Didn't use the TV so can't comment. WiFi was great. Oil fired radiator was very welcome as it's chilly in the evenings. All-in-all a great little house.

“Pleasant house”

Simple, compact house with a nice sunny garden. Kitchen equipment needs topping up, eg there were only 3 wine glasses and 3 breakfast cups, in a house for 4 adults

The house was cold when we arrived. We put the heater on but it a while to warm up.

“A very good simple base for hiking local trails”

Good location for hiking trails. Private location with well cared for garden all around (plants all labelled 🙂) . Outside sitting area. Good options for heating, and with blankets in the bedrooms (Las Hayas was surprisingly cold!). Easy communications with host and check-in/out

The location was superb, it was on a crossroad for walking paths and only ten minutes hike to the Garajonay National Park laurel forest. Easy to get by car from San Sebastian (we came with the ferry). And on the other site of the street is the well known restaurant Restaurant La Montaña - Casa Efigenia specialised in vegetables and fruits. A little further up the street is restaurant and bar Amparao. It is great to have two fine restaurants in such a small village as Las Hayas. And as a birder, I got all the passerines in the area in the garden of Casa Fátima. Very peaceful and relaxing place.
