“excellent stay in Utrecht”

Our host took excellent care of us and provided a tasty, high quality breakfast each day with a table facing out onto the Singel waterway to dine from. The accomodation was lovely and we even had our own balcony with mini fridge and outside heater. A pleasant 15 minute walk into the centre, our B&B was quiet but still close to all of the attractions. Would definetly recommend this B&B as a very comfortable place to stay when visiting Utrecht.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Good location in easy walking distance of the centre. There was a private car park where we were able to store our bikes securely. The accommodation was lovely - clean, comfortable, spacious, stylish and homely. Beautiful. Very comfortable bed, good shower and the balcony was a great place to sit. Fabulous breakfast. Most of all though, Johanna was a wonderful, interesting and generous host; it was such a pleasure to meet her.

Johanna was a wonderful host & her unique apartment had an amazing outlook, room was well appointed with massive, comfortable bed. There are so many extra touches, like bathrobes & slippers. Johanna was very helpful with local travel & was a delight to talk with; she communicated regularly, and provided a lovely breakfast. I highly recommend😃.

Everything- facilities, location, amazing breakfast was above our expectation. Our host, Johanna could not have been more welcoming, and helpful. Exceptional hospitality. Our room and balcony provided everything a guest could wish for. This was the perfect base for our visit to the impressive city of Utrecht. We will long remember our stay.

To put it concisely: B&B de Singel manages to bring together two distinct characteristics that are often not easily combined: being homey & comfortable as well as elegant & refined at the same time. Staying there on a business trip over three days it was just what I had hoped for: a quiet place with an amazing view, but close enough to the otherwise busy streets of Utrecht old town bursting with life. It has everything you could possibly need, including the exquisite breakfast, and all of that with a personal touch. The place is of course is a “reflection” of the host, Johanna, who is a very sophisticated conversation partner, and able to help you out with any information you could need during your stay, or leave alone, if you prefer. Would definitely stay there again!

lovely place, like a home rather than a hotel. Breakfast is delicious and healthy. Room is clean and quiet. Walking distance to the town centre with bus stops next to the property. The hostess is kind and very hospitable.

Warm welcome and excellent host. Room was very clean and had everything needed. Although very close to the city center, it was very quite. City center is on walking distance, property can also easily be reached with bus, stops in from of the property. Perfect breakfast and great view over the Singel at breakfast!

Such a nice homemade breakfast with a lovely view. Close to the water and a park with some good shops and bars nearby. Easy bike ride into the city. Lovely host. Very accomodating. Would love to come and stay again one day.

“Central, beautiful place with a super nice and interesting host!”

Johanna is such a nice and interesting person! She made us feel super comfortable and was always checking if everything was okay with our stay. The breakfast was perfect, the room was big, clean and comfortable and Johanna made us feel at home, also suggesting places to see and to visit. The house is super central, you can walk to the city centre and has a lot of restaurants and cafes around.

We had a wonderful stay with Johanna. She was a delightful host and we couldn't have asked for a more friendly and helpful person to look after us. Breakfast was a feast of eggs, ham, cheese, fresh fruit, yoghurt, breads & pastries, home made jam. The table was groaning, all in a delightful eating space looking out over the canals. The room was very comfortable and beautifully appointed. There was a private, enclosed balcony with lovely views and an en suite shower and basin. The toilet was just outside the door. The bed was so comfortable, I'd have taken it home if I could! I got the feeling Johanna was very conscious of your privacy and was very subtle in letting you have your own space. There was tea and coffee making facilities. Wine and snacks in the room, recharged at supermarket prices. The accommodation is about 10 minutes walk to the centre of Utrecht and was convenient for shopping, restaurants and transport. Utrecht is a great base to travel around the Netherlands (and we certainly did) with great rail and bus links to all of the Netherlands.

In B&B de Singel you are basically staying in the spare room of the hostess's beautiful apartment, located just over the canal that surrounds the old centre of Utrecht. The room is well appointed with a heated balcony and a very comfortable bed but the real selling point is Johanna, the hostess, who is charming and friendly and a font of knowledge about Utrecht and the Netherlands generally. She also serves a delicious breakfast based around traditional Dutch fare and was very accommodating of our vegetarian foibles.
