The room is so clean and spacious! And it’s really close to the national park! Gayon is very friendly and helpful, he gives us a reasonable price to go safari! We enjoy the journey with him! Also the vegetable curry dinner is so delicious, it’s definitely the best one we’ve had in Celon! Everyone should try it!

“Amazing!”
We had a great time staying at Hotel Gayan’s. Both Gayan and his mum were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. Helping us with arranging the safari, taking us to the elephant sanctuary, providing an amazing breakfast and some of the best food we’ve had in Sri Lanka for dinner. We stayed here for two nights and felt right at home. The rooms are spacious and bed is super comfy. We loved our stay here and would recommend the safari!

“M's”
The owner is truly very kind and pleasant. A big advantage is the location, practically right next to the main gate of the park, so you don’t waste any time on transfers. The owner also offers a jeep tour directly (at a fair price). The room is very clean and practically new (although it’s true that the accommodation is still partially under construction). We ordered homemade curry from his mother – absolutely amazing – probably the best we’ve had during our entire trip.

“This is the place to stay when visiting Udawalawe NP.”
As always we were met with warmth and great hospitality by Gayan and his Mum . The room was upstairs, large with new fittings and a great shower room with modern shower and plenty of hot water. There's just a few bits to finish off ie. There's a space for a fridge and bathroom under sink cupboard. The best room we've had for flat surfaces to put things on and bathroom sink with tons of space for various toiletries etc. Lighting was plenty and varied inside and out. Literally 5 minutes from Udawalawe NP entrance so you leave at 5.50 and get there for opening at 6. We did a half day safari ($140) from 6am to noon and was spolt rotten by Gayan and the driver with a fabulous birthday breakfast and cake by the side of a steam 😀. It was quite overwhelming and very special. Saw loads of elephants, water buffalo, monitors, birds etc. Such a lovely place and no F1 type rush as experienced in Yala. It is A 15 min tuk-tuk ride (1,000 rs) from the elephant transit centre. We went at 2pm for feeding at 2.30. $5 + VAT, rupees cash only. We then walked from the ETC into town passing many restaurants enroute. We had rice n curry made by Mum the first night, which was yummy...best banana flower curry on the Island..and Wild Asia cafe the second night (don't ask for spicy...its TOO hot!!!). Pick-me works a treat for tuk-tuks and onward taxi. HIGHLY recommend 👌. Dont look any further.

“Clean rooms close to the entrance of Udawalale”
Very clean, spacious rooms located near the entrance of Udawalale Park. The place is under renovation so the aesthetic is a bit bare but this does not affect any guests. Gayan is very helpful.

“Very kind accommodating hosts, excellent quality Sri Lankan food”
The home cooking was excellent. The vegetarian curries were the best I have had in Sri Lanka so far. The owners were really helpful with my son who was ill with a stomach virus, providing fresh ginger to make tea and buffalo curd that I asked for to help his stomach. They also helped with buckets and kettle when I needed to do some hand washing. The safari was excellent saw many birds and a few elephants

Everything - very clean, well maintained little place with all basic amenities available. The owner's mother is a fantastic cook, we loved the dinner and the packed breakfast provided by them -among the best food we had in Sri Lanka. Mr Gayan also arranged the safari which was quite reasonable and the driver was great too. Location is very near to the forest reserve.

“Perfect stay near the national park”
The host was extremely nice and accommodating. The hotel is near the national park, so it’s perfect to stay here if you’re planning to do a safari. The host was kind enough to book a safari for us and he also accompanied us giving information about the animals. Really great experience

“Will stay at Gayan’s again.”
Clean and tidy. The place was home away from home. Gayan’s mum cooked us delicious dinners and breakfast. She made special olive pickle for afternoon snack. Gayan found a place to stay for our van driver and took dinner to his accommodation. We used Gayan safari jeep and the safari jeep driver was very knowledgeable.

“Amazing stay! Amazing people! Amazing food! Amazing location!”
A charming small hotel in a fantastic location, just steps from the beach and the turtle nesting site. The downstairs rooms are lovely and very comfortable, though the upstairs rooms could use a little TLC. The staff are absolutely amazing—friendly and helpful—and the food was delicious throughout our stay. Overall, a great place with lots of potential!

“Great host, hotel and safari experience.”
We stayed here one night to do the safari which was organised by the host. We also paid for the dinner and breakfast that his mother cooks, delicious! I definitely recommend it. The safari experience was also very good with our driver being knowledgeable about the animals and birds we saw. The room was clean and the bed comfy. Nothing to complain about at all.
