We absolutely loved our time here! Beautiful, freshly renovated property literally 200m from the entrance to Udawalawe National Park. Rooms were spotlessly clean and spacious, literally the best hotel bathroom we’ve encountered anywhere in Sri Lanka. Food was absolutely delicious, we had breakfast and dinner onsite every evening and Buddika’s wife is a fabulous cook. Buddika, the owner, went above and beyond for us at every turn, giving us a guided tour of the local temple and organising local transport/transfer to Ella on our behalf. Could not recommend this hotel highly enough, just book it :)

“Great location and beautiful clean rooms”

A very lovely stay at Buddika safari and resort. The owner was very friendly and kindly offered to bring me to the elephant transit home. They also helped us with arranging the safari and gave our breakfast in Tupperware for us to bring on the morning safari. As we were the only guests (low season) our room was kindly upgraded to a better one. The location is great as it is right next to the gate of the national park.

Buddika and his family were the most welcoming and accommodating hosts. I cannot fault them. Their hospitality, warm welcoming and making me feel like one of the family will always be memorable to me. They even arranged a birthday celebration for me, which was the kindest and most thoughtful gift 😁😭💙 This trip has meant a lot to me and having them host me for a few days, which I decided to extend due to Buddika's hospitality has meant absolutely everything to me. I couldn't recommend this place enough! The organisation of my safari was faultless and the breakfast/lunch they packed me was delicious! In fact all the food I've eaten here, cooked fresh to order has been great!

“Short but sweet”

The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, with a great shower and both a powerful aircon and fan. The location is ideal, just a two-minute drive from the entrance to Udawalawe National Park. Buddika was incredibly friendly and helpful, organising a brilliant full-day safari for me and even helping arrange a driver to my next accommodation, which made everything seamless. He also kindly allowed a late check-out so I could shower before my 2.5-hour drive to Ella - perfect after a long day on safari. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.

“We really recommend, good value for the money!”

We had a fantastic stay at Buddika Safari & Resort near Udawalawe National Park. They arranged the safari for us, and the whole process was incredibly easy and smooth. We highly recommend doing a 3-hour safari. Our driver, Ravi, was amazing – very friendly, spoke excellent English, and was great at spotting and showing us wildlife. The rooms were nice and comfortable, and the food was very good. We also received a great breakfast package to bring on the safari, which we really appreciated. Everyone working there was incredibly kind and welcoming. We strongly recommend this place!

“Excellent location to access a Safari!”

This was a budget option to enable us to arrive at lunchtime and take part in an afternoon safari as the entrance to the safari is literally just down the road! The staff were really helpful at arranging this and even offered us lunch (sandwiches) on arrival. Our first (top) floor room was a good size. We were told that the upstairs rooms had only recently been opened up. It was clean and functional, the ensuite had hot water and a decent shower. It was curious to us as to why there was no window or fan in the bathroom as this appeared to have contributed to some mould appearing in the ceiling. We also had dinner here which was functional - and good ice cream! Staff kindly helped us to organise our onward travel to Tangalle.

The local homemade breakfast and dinner were amazing, everything was organized for us and it was perfect 🥰

“perfect starting point for a safari”

We loved the park's proximity (it's just across the road), the perfect organization of the safari by our host, and the excellent breakfast after returning from the safari.

“Lovely room, great air con, hot shower, all meals and drinks, at good prices”

Lovely new upstairs room was spacious and spotless. Our bags were taken up for us while we had a welcome cool drink and organised activities with the host for our 2 days there. That evening we went to the Elephant orphanage and the next day we chose the 8 hour Safari although we were tired after 6.5 hours so should have just done 5. It was excellent and we saw so much wildlife with the great guide our host had organised. He also took me to an atm to get cash and when the machine debited my account but didn’t give me the money he called the bank and took me to the branch and then to another atm - SO helpful !

“The best way to see elephants!”

The place is recently renovated and nice structure. The host and his family were simply amazing, he arranged a taxi for us from Mirissa at a very convenient price. We had dinner, breakfast and lunch and loved it. He gave us tips and finally drove us to Ella because the driver canceled. He organized a safari for us at a convenient price, and the guide Shanaka was super friendly and he knew everything about the park and the elephants!! Highly recommend if you go to the park

Lovely hosts and so close to the national park which was perfect for the Safari! They organised everything for us and even dropped us at our next hotel which was great.

“Perfect base for Udawalawe safari!”

We loved our stay! The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Just at check in they asked if we’d like dinner that night, so glad we said yes as it was delicious! Some of the best curry of our trip. The owner (sorry I can’t remember his name) was so helpful and organised our safari trip and all the timings for the next day so everything ran smoothly. We were very grateful, he also sorted us with a great safari guide called Shanaka who pointed out so much amazing wildlife! The hotel is minutes from the national park. Room was recently refurbished and really nice. Thank you!

“Lovely one night stay”

The owner and staff were very welcoming and helpful and arranged a 3 hour private safari for us. Communication was excellent prior to our arrival. Our safari driver was amazing and extremely knowledgable. The room was spacious and on the first floor. It was clean and the shower temperature and pressure were good. The property is just down the road from the park entrance which is a bit outside Udawalawe. We only stayed one night so it wasn’t a problem and chose to stay at the resort and had an amazing home cooked curry.

“Exceptional place less than 100 meter from Udalawale National Park”

Simple breakfast, but a good one! Our safari driver/tour guide, Shanaka, is an excellent and knowledgeable guide if you go on safari in Udalawale NP. The room is new, big, clean and has a proper hot shower. Buddika, the owner is very helpful with everything, including arranging transport to Galle. I truly recommend this place

My stay at Buddika resort was excellent! The room was spacious and comfortable with a great hot shower. They organised a safari which was really great, the driver Shanaka ensured we had a wonderful experience with many elephant sightings. We also enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast served on our request, this place is highly recommended

“A special stay at a fantastic property”

We had a wonderful stay at Buddika Safari. The accommodation is extremely modern and spacious and some of the best we have stayed in during our travels in Sri Lanka. It is also perfectly placed right by the entrance to the national park. The traditional Sri Lankan curry for dinner was very tasty including Jackfuit from the garden, followed by a hearty breakfast the next morning. However what makes this place really special is Buddika who is such a welcoming host. He is always available for a chat and will offer a number of safari options provided by his guide. We departed at 1:00pm when the park was at its quietest and saw very few other jeeps in the first 90 minutes during lunchtime. As a really special touch, the next morning we had a spare hour before departing and Buddika took us on a walk through the sugar cane and rice fields behind the property explaining village life. A special stay at a fantastic property with such a caring and kind host. Highly recommended.

Lovely welcome, food was lovely. They made everything so easy. We were on a tight schedule. We managed to eat, see the baby elephant orphanage via tuk tuk, even the drive there was beautiful. They organised the safari, which again, was very special. They let us keep our things in the room and organised a driver to our next destination. All in 48 hours. I highly recommend.
