Fabulous old house, full of character. Tucked away in the woods on Fyvie Castle estate.

Location and the obvious character of the house..we have already booked another holiday at old wood!

Loads of space, great once both the woodburning stoves were lit and grateful for all the wood in the shed. Lovely and peaceful location. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable.

The location was lovely for visiting all the castles and having Fyvie next door was great. Millie was very responsive and kind. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils and the bedding was very comfortable. While a bit chilly, having the option to start a fire made things cozy.

Beautiful old property on Fyvie estate. The house has been decorated tastefully and is very comfortable inside. Two log burners and central heating on a timer keeps the place cosy and warm. Milly was very friendly and available if needed and popped along to say hello and make sure everything was okay. The kingside bed was very comfortable and the quality of the duvet, pillows and sheets were excellent. Again the soft furnishings in the lounge and sofa are all of great quality. Old wood house is situated a short walk to Fyvie castle and there are extensive grounds to explore. We saw dear, barn owls and numerous species of birds. It truly felt like we were in the middle of no where although the local coop was very well stocked. Will definitely be back. Thank you

“Oldwood - A truly memorable experience.”

Oldwood is a beautiful, stylish, very comfortable home in a great location which has a special significance for us (perfect for nature lovers and some peace and quiet but also with easy access to the castle trail, nearby towns and quaint villages and the coast - so there is no shortage of things to do). Definitely one of the best countryside homes we have stayed in - we loved everything about it. It has all anyone would ever need and has been thoughtfully decorated to blend modern aesthetics / comforts with all it's old character features. Even when the early morning and nights turned a bit chilly outside the log burners, plentiful supply of logs and central heating keep the house nice and cosy. The Fyvie estate alone, on which Oldwood stands, with its castle (and all it's history), loch and walled garden is a very special place. It is absolutely stunning and very highly recommended to spend the time in and wander around. However it's not only the actual property and it's surroundings that make a memorable stay but also the hosts themselves and Milly and George excelled. They were always very welcoming / friendly, informative and proactive while never being obtrusive They communicated with us to ensure all was ok throughout our stay and just made everything perfect for us (Milly even helped us access Fyvie parish church to see the amazing memorial Tiffany stained glass window depicting St. Michael on our last morning which was another highlight of our week's stay). A lovely couple. Milly and George, a huge THANKS to you both! We are missing Oldwood already and cannot wait to return!

A beautiful house, full of character in a wonderfully tranquil setting. Ideal for anyone seeking peace and quiet away from the usual hustle and bustle of everyday life. House is extremely spacious and perfect for our needs. We were fascinated to hear Oldwood's history during a tour of Fyvie Castle. We enjoyed wandering through the estate and lochside walks as well as exploring the wider area. We would not hesitate to return.

The location was so peaceful and the bats flying around the property were an added bonus. Lovely to have dishwasher tablets supplied and we had everything we needed in all the rooms.

Milly & George are wonderful and very hands-on hosts! Just as in a previous stay, I can not fault this wee gem in any way. Oldwood is beautiful, comfortable, and so full of charm!!! My days were spent outdoors, walking around the lake, on the many trails through the estate, and I even got to handfeed the birds!!! I was on my own, and it was absolute bliss!!! Many thanks, Milly & George... I'll be back in December 😉

Great location next to Fyvie Castle. Good for walking and quiet. Log burner keeps us warm at night. House itself has a lot of character!

Beautiful house, the castle and grounds are stunning. Very peaceful plenty to do within short drives to the coast or nearby towns.

“A lovely house, set in the grounds of a castle!”

The location is fantastic, the property is set in the grounds of the castle, looking out of the window in the morning it was possible to see deer, rabbits and so many birds. During the summer, it would be great for walks in the grounds. If log fires are your thing then this property has two. There are games supplied to keep you busy, an info pack and the hosts mobile number if you need anything.

The best place to stay for visiting Fyvie Castle, Gardens, and Loch. Beautiful and comfortable cottage full of charm in an ideal setting. Unforgettable holiday & wonderful host ! Looking forward to returning very soon !
