This hotel, more like a small lodge, is quite remote but well worth the journey. It is set in a beautiful and pristine valley. The main rancho with restaurant is attractive, with a lovely view. Outstanding were all the staff, natural and very friendly. We were impressed by the food also. We will be back next year!

This lodge needs help! There was one person 'running' the show when we arrived. He was very nice, but clearly overwhelmed. Dome 5 is only accessible by terrifying ride up the hill, but onside driver in 4x4. Shower flooded the entire bathroom. 2 Lamps had no power outlet. Very isolated. Coffee pot would have been good addition. Only way up and down the steep hill was in 4x4 that had to be prearranged. Outside light did not work. Other accommodation also had leaking bathrooms, and lacking in some basic amenities. Dinner was poor and served tepid. The 'main guy' was unable to make a cocktail from printed list. Breakfast was ok. The location is lovely, but if they want to be a comfortable retreat they need to think about some more comforts and a capable staff.

Superb secluded location in the heart of the rainforest with great food and very attentive staff who were really superb. Special mention to Cristel and Gustavo. Great food with very good young chefs. Relaxing place to be with good birding.

The location was beautiful. If you want to be away from it all with rivers and walks and nature, it's gorgeous. Staff were super friendly and the food was great and generous portions!

Thanks to the staff and particularly Joel for a great stay. Location of the hotel is deep into the forest and next to a free flowing river. Views from the restaurant were fantastic. An abundance of bird life. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced.

Absolutely beautiful little cabin. A basic small space, clean, with views to die for. Stunning location overlooking a valley and river between 2 mountains. Not much close by and better to plan eating on site in the Rivel restaurant. The food is pretty good. There’s a pool with a little waterfall, some chickens and goats nearby and just an all around beautiful natural space. Wifi in the cabin and the restaurant.

“Lovely little cabins in beautiful surroundings”

We only stayed for one night at Hotel Rivel, but it was a great stay! The property itself is incredible to be on. It was a rainy day, but that made the grounds very mysterious and pretty. The water level was to high to cross the river, but we could do a small hike by going up the road, cross the bridge and walk back a bit. The cabin itself is small (as advertised), but complete. I was a bit confused to see teacups, but no water kettle or anything. The next morning we enjoyed our breakfast with the great view of the valley, including many cute birds (they brought us a pair of binoculars when they saw us looking). When leaving the property we had to pay, but with our limited Spanish and the staff’s limited English, it seemed impossible to get a correct bill. We pointed out that there were some items missing (our soup, some drinks) and then we got a totally different bill. We tried to fix it about 4 times and then we decided to leave it as is. We had no small cash on us, so we couldn’t leave the difference. It was more funny then annoying, but if this happens like this more often, the hotel will miss out on some costs.
