Staff are very attentive and all of them know the menus (both for food and drinks) and ingredients. Nests are a great feature and not gimmicky. We had a fantastic meal for our Wedding Anniversary. There are enough restaurants and bars within walking distance. Plenty of beds around the pool and beach area. Good selection of drinks albeit very pricey. (but that's Tulum)

Unfortunately, our stay at Kanan was deeply disappointing. Although the hotel facilities were comfortable, the atmosphere was completely unsuitable for rest and relaxation. The music from the beach bar and the restaurant was extremely loud, continuing until late at night. It wasn’t background music — it was intense, club-style sound that made it impossible to sleep or unwind. To make matters worse, there is a neighboring Beach Bar outside the hotel that also plays very loud music too, so the two places try to outcompete each other with the level of noise. Our room’s terrace faced both sources of noise, creating a chaotic sound clash that was truly unbearable. We had planned to stay for three nights, but after just one night of constant noise and lack of rest, we decided to leave early and move to a different vibe hotel in the bioreserve. This is not what we expected from a supposedly relaxing vacation spot - the hotel should make it clear upfront that that’s the character of the place and quiet relaxation is not an option even if they have a spa. We cannot recommend this hotel to anyone looking for peace or a calm atmosphere. Kanan is clearly aimed at party-goers and not suitable for guests who value tranquility. We regret choosing this place and would not return.

The service was great

One of the most disappointing hotel stays we ever had! My husband and I came on our honeymoon expecting a luxurious and relaxing stay. We got the total opposite - obnoxiously loud music from 13-18 pm coming from the beach club on site while our balcony was overseeing it and the windows aren’t sound proof at all. There was additional noise from other clubs/restaurants around. The hotel’s beach club is totally public so you get hackled by locals trying to sell you whatever so you can’t relax there either. We arrived early prior to the 3 pm check in (at 12) and told the staff we would like to get a notice if the room is ready beforehand. We ended up checking in 15 minutes late and then found leftover food from the guests that left. In addition, the room had an unpleasant old wood smell and we disliked the fact that the sink, bathroom and shower aren’t separated from the room at all so no privacy from your partner. When I came down to the reception to complain, one of the workers there named Joel did not want to be understanding nor helpful and told me bluntly that all information about the noisiness at the hotel is public knowledge. Essentially blaming me for a lack of knowledge instead of apologising for the inconvenience. He said we could request at any time a round of drinks on the house. We ordered 3 cocktails in the beach club and during check out when I requested the free round to apply they said NO. The free round was only for beers and some basic cocktails while the ones we drank were mixology or some non sense. Moreover, in the room there is a super basic coffee machine with capsules. The worker said each guest can have one capsule a day not including the day we came and that each extra capsule we use will cost 4 USD! They went on and on about leaving the spreadsheets clean and not having makeup leftover on towels. In my opinion, this place is not worth the money, there is sand everywhere, the team was unpleasant and we will definitely not come back

What a beautiful building right on the beach, right in the heart of Tulams shops and restaurants. The staff were very helpful and the room was amazing. I could not recommend highly enough

The noise from this hotel is unbearable. There were illegal parties being held in next door properties with music banging from 9pm to 11am the next day. It was a beautiful property and the staff were kind but the noise makes the whole experience unbearable. No downtime, no chance to sleep.

The setting is amazing - the treehouse is so cool and the beach club was so fun and beautiful with such a fun vibe. The room was beautiful with fantastic maid service. They upgraded us to an ocean view for our honeymoon and left us complimentary champagne and chocolate strawberries which was such a nice touch. The staff are exceptional here- by far superior to anywhere else we stayed during our two weeks in Mexico. Attentive and welcoming reception team and fantastic staff in the beach club - shout out to Enrique & Ricardo who were fantastic and made our stay extra special. It wasn’t in our original travel plans to stay here and we booked a week before - I’m so glad we did as it was the highlight of our trip.

Hotel has a direct access to the beach and because there is so much nature you do not feel like at the resort. The staff at the hotel is super nice and helpfully. They go above and beyond to help with anything. Restaurants have very good food. The restaurant with the nests has a spectacular views.
