Beautiful area of Spain! So peaceful, walking distance from one of the main miradors. A gem for birdwatchers.

I loved its position right at the edge of the national park. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast by the open fire.

The location is everything. You're actually inside the Monfragüe Natural Park. One row of rooms with view of dehesa. If you want to watch bee-eaters and azure-winged magpies from the terrace, this is the place. But it needs a makeover. You feel the place was founded by a nature-lover in the 1970s and hasn't changed much. Food in restaurant good, copious portions, catering for Spanish tastes (which is fine by me). Think I paid €52 for a single room

“A delightful simple very peaceful place to stay”

We absolutely loved this hotel. So absolutely peaceful in the fresh air of open quiet countryside. You could hear only the sounds of the bees and the birds. It reminded me of the lodges I occasionally stayed in when I lived in East Africa many years ago,providing just what you need in a very simple and tranquil way. The host and his team were charming and helpful. Unfortunately the company supplying electricity was upgrading something in the supply and had planned a power cut for the morning we left. We were warned this was going to happen and that the hotel would be closing until power was returned. We would have loved to stay longer

It is very hard to find. It needs to be easier to find on google and some street signs should be added at least.

I was devastated when I thought this charming little gem in the Extremadura had closed permanently as it is comfortable quiet and dog-friendly for our multiple trips through Spain en route to Portugal. The addition of air-conditioning, new tv's and an improved menu made our stay there even more appealing and it is generally much cleaner and fresher after a coat of paint. Good luck to the new management.
