“Highly recommended Guesthouse in the Northeast of Iceland”

The loction is an excellent gateway to the Northeast of Iceland. Very friendly and helpful hosts, very good breakfast with freshly baked bread. For once we were lucky to get also an excellent dinner there due to the service for an in parallel staying larger hiking group.

“Great guesthouse surrounded by nature”

This is a lovely guesthouse in a wild and fairly remote part of Iceland, surrounded by nature. In the small field where we parked our car we had whimbrel, snipe, redshank, ptarmigan, redwing and redpoll with pink- footed geese nearby. Hildur is an excellent host, breakfast was special with delicious home made bread, pastries and a pesto. We stayed for 6 nights and this was an great base for exploring this area of north Iceland. We brought our electric car from the UK and there were good charging facilities nearby in Porshofn.

Superb remote location

Perfect ! Everything was charming, cozy and felt like home. The mattresses were very comfortable The common spaces ( in the main house ) was very welcoming and warm . Hildur has great taste and magic hands ( she bakes tasty bread !) . The dogs loved to be petted. The farm is so large !! Wish we could have stayed longer as the area was gorgeous.

Beautiful location! The landscape of northeast Iceland that I had imagined was there. Dogs and a cat were friendly and welcome. 
Needless to say, the room was comfortable, the host was nice, and the breakfast was good. The berry smoothie was delicious.

Grásteinn Guesthouse is a truly beautiful home in every way. It is a special place, filled with things lovingly made by the hosts themselves. The bedding and towels are delicately embroidered, and the bath was perfect for easing the fatigue of a long journey. Every item on the breakfast table was prepared with Hildur’s heartfelt care — eating it made us happy. Even on a moonlit night, we were able to see the magnificent northern lights, and the starlight was just as breathtaking. We were warmly welcomed by the lovely Bessi and Kappi as well. This is an unforgettable dream home. We are especially grateful to Hildur for her kindness and the love she put into everything. Thank you so much.

“One of the best experiences in Iceland”

We spent three nights at the guesthouse on this family-run farm and felt very comfortable. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, a very large bathroom, and a beautiful view. The breakfast was special, as was the kindness and hospitality of the host.

This guesthouse was hidden gem of our vacations in Iceland. If by any occasion you pass by Grásteinn Guesthouse, take a breakfast with them and try to stole the recipe for that “out-of-this-world” dark bread, …it worths more than gold. Besides all extremely good, cozy and comfort with the room and sleeping conditions, this stay won the prize of “the best breakfast in Iceland” for this vacations.

very delicious breakfast with many homemade products. our 4-persons apartment was equipped with 2 bathrooms! the hosts are really friendly and welcoming. the hike at Raudanes point is a must for everybody. Thousands and thousands of puffins and other birds are there.

“Amazing bungalow in the middle of nowhere”

Lovely small wooden bungalow, tastefully decorated and so cozy. Really well equiped + good homemade breakfast. A perfect place for a break

“This guesthouse should not be missed on your tour.”

Check-in is done in person, you just have to call and let it know you arrived. A beautiful apartment awaits us, divided into a large single room with a small kitchen and a bathroom on the ground floor and a separate large bedroom with its own toilet on the first floor. The upper room has three individual sleeping cabins with individual curtains - very romantic and intimate. The mini kitchen is of course much too small for our family of five, so the landlady offered us the use of her professional kitchen to prepare dinner at reception. We would especially like to thank the landlady for the lovely birthday present for our daughter!
