The Overall experience of staying at L'Ecurie Gourmande was excellent, the Building and facilities are first class. The host was a really nice person to very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was full of fresh local produce and delicious. If travelling to this area again which I most probably will this is the first place on my list that I or my friend will look to stay.

Wonderful hosts. Great breakfast, croissants, breads, home-made yoghurt, fresh fruit, cereals, cold cheeses and meats. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The village of Thaon is only 10 minutes from Caen and a good central place to explore DDay memoriablia. The stairs to our room were very steep at one point but our host was ready to help carry bags so no problem. Very quiet location.

We stayed for 2 nights in late October around Halloween. Firstly, the breakfast is to die for - living up to the ‘Gourmande’ title! The selection of confits & baked goods were my personal highlights. The room was perfect with a separate bathroom and a bed that you don’t want to get up from in the morning. Quiet yet handy location just outside Caen but a short drive to Bayeux. Stefan was a wonderful host with his fluffy canine companion. We will definitely want to come back next time!

The atmosphere of a beautiful old Normandy property, restored to a high standard in a ‘Unique’ way creating a very special B & B. Stefan, the owner/chef, is a true professional with extremely high standards and a wonderful sense of humour. Our short stay was a relaxing experience, we enjoyed tea on the terrace in the autumn sunshine. Super bedroom, comfortable bed, lovely linens & decor, beautiful bathroom. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast, shared with two other couples which made a friendly, family atmosphere. We would be very happy to stay again. Great restaurant recommendations thank you Stefan 🤩

Perfect place to base yourself for visiting the Normandy beaches and close to Bayeaux. The surrounding countryside and village were lovely. The accommodation was beautiful and very well hosted by Stefan, clean and comfortable. I visited with my car and was great to have safe parking.

A truly exceptional place. Stefan is a fantastic host who pays attention to every little detail :) The house (entirely designed and finished by him with great care) is very spacious and comfortable, in a perfect location. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious! I will really miss these croissants… Stefan also shares tips about hidden local gems and he’s great to chat with on many topics. I highly recommend this place :)

“A highly enjoyable and quite unique over night stay.”

It is a beautiful historic property, exceptionally clean and very tastefully furnished. The garden was equally impressive. Stefan was very accommodating and helped reserve a very nice seaside restaurant to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The playful Australian Shepard in the garden was an added bonus for us dog lovers.

The uniqueness and the quality of the renovation of the property. The welcome and introduction to the accommodation by Stefan was excellent. He told us the restaurants which would be open that evening. Breakfast was a typical continental spread with cheese, meat, cereals, bread, croissants, fruit, jam, etc Only a short drive to the Normandy Beaches

Fabulous old house with loads of character and has been beautifully restored. Stefan is an excellent host and the breakfast is superb. Easy drive to all the WW2 sites and memorials.
