“A disgusting apartment - Is there anything worse on Booking.com?”

The apartment was utterly disgusting and the very worst that we have ever encountered on booking.com or anywhere else. The owner gave us the code to the front door of the building but it had long since been smashed in and was open to the street.It was also covered in graffiti. The living “room” is so small that leaving a suitcase on the floor (nowhere else to put it) meant that there was virtually nowhere to stand. Yes, it is that small. The photo of the terrace was deceptive, and not just because it didn't show all of the dead plants but it also neglected to show the broken fencing that let stray cats through which meant that the door had to be kept shut. The bathroom was old, stained, the shower curtains were covered in mildew and the bath itself had lost all of its coating. Yech. The fridge was filthy, the plugs and wiring hung off the walls. The communal hallway had exposed wiring and looked like a crack den. I could go on! We arrived late, so were forced to stay the night (we booked for 5 days) but checked out the next day and into a hotel. Booking.com were hopeless when it came to getting a refund and told me to deal directly with the apartment owner. Not wishing to be confrontational I said that I would settle for the cost of our hotel which ironically was considerably cheaper than this dump. The owner who had been very friendly throughout agreed the refund. Needless to say, the promises he made over Whatsapp were not honoured and no refund was ever sent. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
