A definite 10 out of 10. The place is stunning with beautiful scenery all round, just 3 bungalows and a lovely swimming pool, it felt so serene. The room was super clean and very comfortable. Harold, Raf and everyone working at the Villa could not have been more helpful, and great hosts. We were given a mobile phone with important numbers stored such as tuk tuk drivers, Harold and Raf thought of everything. Chameera the tuk tuk driver was great, taking us everywhere, nothing was too far, even Hiriketiya is only 20-25 minutes away. The breakfast was possibly the best of our whole trip with quality ingredients, something different each day. We met repeat guests who were on their 7th and 8th visit, that’s testiment to how great this place is. Villa Don Hendricks will stay in our memories, thank you.

Villa Don Hendrick – Timeless Elegance with Heart Villa Don Hendrick is a true gem in the south of Sri Lanka. The refined atmosphere of the historic villa feels like stepping into an Elle Decor editorial – harmonious proportions, carefully curated design, and a beautiful balance of textures and light. The three charming chalets set within the garden are tastefully designed in an elegant southern Sri Lankan style – natural, refined, and understated. Each chalet features a beautiful four-poster bed with a mosquito net, freshly washed for every guest – a detail that reflects the exceptional level of care throughout the property. The mattresses are excellent, ensuring truly restorative sleep. An espresso machine is provided in every chalet, and the spacious bathrooms are beautifully appointed, even featuring a bidet. The expansive, meticulously maintained garden is home to countless peacocks, creating an almost magical setting. The pool was the best we experienced during our weeks of traveling through Sri Lanka – ideal in both length and depth, perfect for proper swimming. The owners are warm, humorous, and genuinely welcoming. They personally serve the outstanding breakfast, with fruit platters arranged like small works of modern art. Hospitality here is not staged – it is sincerely lived. There is also a wonderful small “massage temple” on the property, offering a peaceful retreat for relaxation. The immediate surroundings are less charming, and a large temple complex nearby means that chanting can at times be very audible. Light sleepers may wish to bring earplugs. With a tuk-tuk, it takes about 10 minutes to reach Tangalle town and a little longer to access the beaches and restaurants. Everything is exceptionally clean and maintained with great care. For anyone seeking refined hospitality and a stylish, well-kept retreat, this resort is an absolute find. We would happily return. Thanks and hugs to Raf & Harold.

Villa Don Hendrick, was quite simply, exceptional in every respect. This level of hospitality usually comes at a much higher price point. We were staggered at what we experienced for relatively little money. The hosts, the gardens, the pool, even the freshly laundered mosquito nets contributed to our amazing 48 hours. We can’t wait to return, and we will return.

Absolutely everything was wonderful . From the moment we arrived . Harold and Raff made us feel so at home . The rooms were incredibly comfortable. A fully stocked fridge was a lovely touch . The staff were all so friendly and worked really hard to make our stay as special as it was . The gardens , the pool , the peacocks , Villa Von Hendrick was the perfect end to our holiday in Sri Lanka .

A heavenly stay with wonderful hosts Staying at The Hendrick was simply heavenly. Raf and Harold are two incredibly loving hosts who have created a true dream here. We stayed for 4 days to relax after our travels and enjoyed every minute, especially the magnificent, huge gardens. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend this place!

The place is just beautiful. Colors, shapes, even plants are arranged in the most tasteful way. Everything at the Villa Don Hendrick is thought-trough and managed to perfection. I have hardly ever seen any place that was run as well. Even small details like the timer on the minibar fridge that switches off at night to spare you the noise or umbrellas standing at the ready in case you want to take a walk in the blazing sun – or if it actually rains. They even give you a phone with all important numbers at speed-dial to call Tuktuks or restaurants.

What a stunning place, perfect for us on every level, from the moment you enter this elegant home where you are immersed in nature and take in the views across the jungle you can totally relax. The accommodation is peaceful and very comfortable with everything you need including fresh milk for your tea and coffee! In all my years of travelling I have never had fresh milk provided before and that just shows the attention to detail that Raf & Harold provide throughout their lovely and beautifully restored property which includes lending you with an old style mobile with their number saved, just incase, as well as those of several reliable and trusted tuk tuk drivers. The breakfasts are amazing and there is also a very stylish covered outdoor kitchen & dining area with all the essential for those who like to cook. Note that this is not the place for you if you want to be in the thick of things, but if you don’t mind being a few kms away on a journey that takes you through the paddy fields and jungle then this is a slice of paradise!

Everything.. pre arrival communication, arrival - meet & greet, drink with the host. The layout of the villas, amazing! Everything was well thought out.. Breakfast.. wow!! We love Raf & Harold.. they are so genuinely friendly and welcoming.

What an amazing Place! When we entered Villa Don Hendrick we entered Paradise :) The Garden and bungalows are beautiful and created with exquisite taste. Beside that Raf and Harold are the most warm hearted Hosts we ever met (and this means a lot 😉) This is the Perfect Place to charge your batteries and just enjoy life. We didnt miss the Beach for a single moment!

A beautiful property with just 3 bungalows in the well manicured grounds. Peacocks, monkeys and monitor lizards all roam the garden. Everything at Villa DH was so well thought out, down to the timer on the fridge so it went off at night and a small mobile you are given with the owners contact details and local Tuk Tuk drivers already input. Harold and Raf are delightful and are so welcoming. Breakfast is delicious and we also stayed in for dinner 3 times. We actually booked 3 nights and ended up staying 8. We only left then as they were fully booked. A short Tuk Tuk ride from the multiple restaurants & beaches in Tangalle, we genuinely couldn’t imagine a better place to stay.

It's a paradise concerning everything. Garden, pool, buildings, comfort, breakfast. In my opinion a private hosted accommodation can not be better. Harold and Raff (in alphabetical order) are so charming, warm hearted (not only to the guests but also to the local employees). Everything is done with respect to humans, nature, and animals. Besides that: don't miss a chance to enjoy dinner cooked by the hosts themselves: 4 star level prepared with love. What more can be added about these fantastic hosts Raf & Harold.............well not much really, they are gifted when it comes to hosting and making your holiday a memorable experience. Villa Don Hendrick is also their home and they want you to feel that's its your home from home. Attention to detail is everything to Raf and Harold from clean rooms and linen to beautifully presented breakfasts. We started our Sri Lanka holiday with three pre booked nights at Villa Don Hendrick but changed our plans for another three nights towards the end of our stay. Come and stay and chill out in one of their three well equipped bungalows, listen to the birds and peacocks, read a book and laze by the pool. “Fabulous stay in beautiful surroundings provided by great hosts.”

Everything! This is the second time we have stayed at this accommodation. Bungalow is clean and well furnished with so much attention to detail, and situated in beautiful well maintained grounds overlooking the infinity pool. Harold and Raf are both very kind and helpful, nothing is too much trouble - excellent hosts! The location is quiet and tranquil but within easy reach of Tangalle. Breakfast is very good as are the 3 course evening meals which are offered several evenings each week. We thoroughly recommend Don Hendrick as being the best place to stay in this area of Sri Lanka!
