The place is super quiet as it is hidden in a beautiful nature. The keeper of the place Janaka and the chef are very nice people, food is amazing - one of the best we have had on the island. Beach is not so close - it is over 20 minutes walk - but this we did not mind too much. We also enjoyed swimming pool. We very recommend this place for people who love nature and peace.

“Peaceful and private”

We had a great time here – doing absolutely nothing – just enjoying the lodge. The swimming pool was great. They have a ayurveda spa but we didn’t have time to try it out. There were some very friendly dogs and also some very long eared goats in their farm !! Also some delicious home-grown organic lemons, mangoes and passion fruit that we really enjoyed. The accommodation is very comfortable, not luxury. The toilets had an open to sky area as well, which we loved. They have been very considerate in protecting the environment and natural flora, so don’t expect manicured lawns although there were some ladies planting grass near the new summer hut by the lagoon. We have never seen so many butterflies – and heard that the owner plants many plants to attract butterflies and birds. The staff was also very attentive but their English was not great. Sadly we booked only 1 night but this is a place that one should stay for a minimum 2-3 nights.

“The most peaceful stay”

The property was located just 10 minutes away from the beach and although there were many activities to do within the property we just stayed in and relaxed most of the time as we were the only guests. The accommodation units had been refurbished for the season and the roof of the dining area was being rethatched with Talipot palms whilst we were there. This was a very interesting experience for us and we appreciate the degree of attention required to maintain an eco lodge. We had the most amazing Ayurvedic message, which is the best I’ve had so far! Everything was looking very green as there had been a lot of rain recently. The road to the property was a bit bumpy and muddy due to the recent rain but our tuk handled it fine. It is a very large property and part of it is quite wild, I believe intentionally, as the owners are interested in preserving most of the natural foliage in the property for the benefit of the wildlife. They have also planted many medicinal, fruit and flowering plants and have many plants for butterflies. We saw thousands ! The highlight for us was seeing and feeding the goats they have on the property, this was truly a unique experience for us. The food was delicious, and some of it is organically grown in the property. We had a super relaxing stay at Back of Beyond Wellness retreat in Tangalle Sri Lanka and highly recommended to anyone looking for a peaceful and quiet stay close to nature. It is not meant for those who like crowds or a lot of activity.

“Best place to relax and enjoy holidays”

Love the environment. It makes you feel so relaxed and comfortable. Sipping a tea in the morning while enjoying the nature is a valuable thing I have invested. We rented some mountain bikes and had a good time riding in the village. You have all the privacy and also you don't need to worry to lock your doors. I had my laptop, my money, phones in the room and no one enters to our villa except for three naughty dogs. For some reason they stick with us through the entire time we spent there. Guess we over pet them. One dog we kept in our room also. Usually they dont stay with guests it seems, but they did with us. Wasantha and Chandana is just one call away. they never say they can't. pool was a nice place to hang around. We had a really good time.

“Amazing stay in a great hotel”

Great beds, amazing bathrooms and very relaxing environment. It is a great hotel, perfect for those who want to rest with comfort. Totally recommended!
