“Clean, lovely place in Takahara”

Location is perfect on the Kumano Kodo trail, after the steep start. Facilities are brand new, shower is good and futon beds are super comfortable. Bento for dinner was great, breakfast had nice breads, jam and juice. As there was a possibility of typhoon alert in place, the retreat sent information emails and staff came to check all windows and show guests where emergency items were (i.e. lamps and batteries). There was also washing machine and dryer available, super useful after a day of hiking.

Beer and icecream in the fridge was a very welcome surprise. We were walking the Kumano Kodo and this place is right on the track so very easy to find. Great Bento Dinner.

Beautiful property near Takahara. The rooms are clean, well kept and comfortable. The common rooms, including the kitchen, living room and showers were also spotless. Basic amenities in the kitchen are also there for usage. A Bento Box (cold for dinner) and breakfast was provided- both ok but nothing special.

The property was renewed quite basicly but with everything you could need. You could see that they were caring about the quality of the bento boxes and other small details.

From the check-in to the breakfast, this place was just beyond our expectations! The food was great, the check-in quite easy, the room very comfortable and the care for the details impressive. We also lit the bonfire outside to enjoy with the free beers from the minifridge, under amazing stars that made our stay here truly unforgettable!

The location is on the Kumano Kodo so it’s perfect. Meals were supplied which was very much appreciated. Didn’t meet the hosts but communication was easy. Beautiful and clean, had everything you need….highly recommend.

Located directly alongside the Kumano Kodo, this place offers a spacious living room and lounge areas. On the day of our stay, we were the only guests, so it felt like we had the entire villa to ourselves! The facilities are incredibly comprehensive and well-maintained—it’s the perfect place to get some much-needed rest after a long day of hiking the ancient trail.

This is a very beautiful place, located high up in the mountains. The surroundings are stunning and the facilities are very new and well maintained. The property itself is lovely and very comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were very good and I really enjoyed the meals. I felt very relaxed and comfortable during my stay. I truly enjoyed my time there and would definitely recommend it.

Lovely peaceful accommodation for the first night of the Kumano Kodo Hike. Staff were really responsive when we arrived and didn't see our dinner in the room. Warm rooms and showers. Proper place to relax after walking and directly on the hiking route as you enter Takahara Village. Would highly recommend. Could understand how check in might seem to be difficult but we filled out our info online before arriving and it was all very smooth.
