Our stay at Tsuki-Akari in Takayama was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfectly arranged. The check-in process was very easy thanks to the clear information provided beforehand, and the owner responded incredibly quickly and kindly to every question we had. Walking into the house for the first time was a real “wow” moment. The property is beautifully designed, modern, stylish, and finished with high-quality materials throughout. You immediately notice how much care and attention has gone into every detail to make guests feel comfortable. Everything you could possibly need is available. We especially loved the comfortable beds, the excellent bathroom facilities, the relaxing outdoor bath, and the covered outdoor seating area where we could unwind in the evening. Tsuki-Akari truly felt like a luxury retreat and was one of the highlights of our stay in Japan. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Takayama.

We stayed at four different houses during our japan trip this year, but this house was the best we’ve ever stayed at. Takayama is quite chilly during winter season, and staying at a warm house is very much needed. Almost all parts of the house is warm except for the kitchen (where the dining table is also located) is a bit cold but is tolerable. The house is safe for children, but do be careful when you climb up or go down the stairs because it’s a bit slippery. The best part we like about this house is simply the bathtub located outside of the house. You get to enjoy the view during winter and warm up in the bathtub. Plus point of this house : dryer in the closet (kansouki in the oshiire) is very effective to warm up your jacket/ clothes and even dry the clothes. Needless to say that the washing machine and dryer were very helpful. Complete kitchen for simple cooking. Absolutely compact & impeccable house. Truly recommended 👍

Beautiful home in an exquisite location. We are a family of four and found the home large by Japanese standards. One of the best places we stayed on our visit to Japan. The bath was also gorgeous. I had a bath while it was snowing. Highly recommended!

Beautiful house and equally beautiful and quiet neighborhood, but then very close to the old town of Takayama. What more to ask. The facilities was perfect. Had a wonderful time cooking up a storm with our butcher bought hida beef. Although we didn't use the outdoor bath due to the cold, it was a nice touch. Even though the shower area was a little chilly, they provided portable heater you can wheel around as needed. And the Balmuda kitchen equipments....

Fantastic little house. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, everything in the house was beautifully done. The outdoor bath and private little garden were a huge bonus. The location was excellent, a short walk to where we wanted to go but a very quiet area.
