Location, space, comfort and cleanliness were exceptional. Authentic Japanese guest house with kind and generous hosts close to temples, local onsen and the most delicious noodle (soba and udon) shop.

“A beautiful accommodation and convenient location”

A wonderful stay in a beautiful and great location, a 1+ km (20-30 mins) walk from Takayama Station and close to the city’s historic districts. The hosts are incredibly friendly, helpful, and thorough in explaining how everything works in the house and how to get around the area. They also provide plenty of useful guides on local food, attractions, and detailed maps of the town. The house itself is spotless, well-maintained, and very well equipped. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood and comes with both air conditioning and heating. The kitchen includes a stove, a large fridge, and all the basic cooking appliances you might need. There’s even a washing machine—and everything worked perfectly. We couldn’t have asked for better accommodation!

10/10 We stayed at a lovely home hosted by a wonderful couple. They explained everything we needed to know about the area and gave us plenty of helpful tips. They also gave us a tour of the house and made sure we understood everything. Highly recommended!

This was our best stay in japan so far!! Incredible location in the "old takayama", beautiful and traditionnal house with extremely lovely hosts! Would come back any time and takayama is a MUST in your trip to japan. Can't think of a better housing for the price.

The hosts are kind and supportive. The location is great with free parking for one car.

“Homely Japanese house”

It was a very spacious house with a parking space and had everything we needed and very clean. Heatings for the bedroom and the lounge areas were very effective, but the bathroom was a little cold side. They had a public bath with sauna within 3 minutes walk, so we enjoyed using it. The location was good for Higashiyama walking course. The couple who owned this place were attentive. It gave us homely atmosphere and was the perfect property for us.

Wonderful authentic Japanese house. Everything one could need. Lovely comfortable bedrooms. Tatami and futon. Slept really well.

Soramachi was a very comfortable house with good facilities. Probably the most spacious and nicest accomodation we experienced in our travels through Japan. Only stayed 2 nights but it provided a relaxing and quiet break from the crowds elsewhere. The house is right on the river and close to a tranquil temple walk and public bathhouse . It is an easy walk from there to the old quarter and we walked to the house with luggage from the station ( 1.4 km). The owners are obviously very house proud and welcoming. Highly recommend this accomodation.
