I have Never been to such a beautiful place! Stunning nature, huge and spotless room. The private onsen is amazing, and the staff is incredibly kind and helpful. Spotless cleanliness throughout. Having tried other hotels nearby, this is hands down the best. Wish I could have stayed longer!

Calm oasis with amazing private onsen. Attentive staff and overall good service. They shipped me back a jacket that I forgot in the room which was really appreciated. I really recommend a day or two at Mozumo, a truly special experience.

Everything. We had the best host and the whole welcome was very pleasant. Any request that we had during the stay was directly attended to. The location was perfect, 15min drive from touristy Takayama which makes it a very special and calm stay, as you would be a local. The house itself was such a vibe, incredible experience that feels like a 5 star hotel. Excellent and one of our favourite stays during our vacation.

Peaceful, quiet surroundings and accommodation. If you are looking for peace and relaxation this is the place for you. Staff were delightful and helpful. Private onsen was just amazing and made for a restful sleep. Short walk from Hiyaru bus terminal if you are travelling by coach or bus. Staff can give food recommendations for the area if you would like to eat out.

“Amazing serenety and calm in the japanese alps”

This place is amazing, the atmosphere is serene and tranquil, the hot spring baths are relaxing and the staff were kind and attentive. My girlfriend and I stayed here in late November for 2 nights, the rooms are large and comfortable, especially the tatami mats! We had a private hot spring bath room, which was extremely relaxing. The view from the room and the hot spring is a nice calm forest, there was a small hot spring stream just outside our window that bubbled away. The staff were great as well, and very accomodating. The town that the hotel is located in, Hirayu, was pretty closed when we were there, since it was a bit off season. It is challenging to find vegetarian food, but it is possible if you are creative. There is a general store nearby. The breakfast was amazing, quite different from a european breakfast but very much reccomended. We did a short hike to a waterfall nearby, it was very beautiful and the mountains are impressive. We got there by bus from takayama which was easy and convenient, the hotel is close to the bus terminal.

We booked the dinner for the signature beef shabu shabu. The service and everything were fantastic.

“Relaxing hot springs in the forest”

We came here for a private onsen experience and that is what we got! As someone who is not comfortable being naked in front of others, this hotel was a great way to experience hot spring bathing without a traditional onsen experience. Our room had a bath tub that was continuously filling with hot spring water. The bath tub was surrounded by sliding doors which opened onto greenery. We went in late November so it was quite cold but perfect for a hot bath first thing in the morning with fresh morning, pine scented air rushing in. Glorious! We were too late to reserve a room that came with the dining experience so I cannot comment on the food. The hotel was so quiet - didn’t see or hear any other guest while we were there but based on our room being the only one available at the time of booking - the hotel must have been full! The staff were so helpful and so polite.

“Paradise is here!”

The best thing is having a private bath in the room facing the quiet forest!! Room is well designed and aesthetically pleasing. Japanese workmanship at its best! The carpentry work is simply sublime. Staff wise, is served by a bright and cheery Khin. Makes our day every morning when she attends to our room! 3 truly wonderful days at Mozumo!!

Don’t even want to say it since it feels like hidden gem, but this was most perfect stay

Everything was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, we felt wonderful—the staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our entire stay. The stay itself was the highlight of our trip to Japan. We’re already in another city and still keep thinking about it! The room was very spacious, the beds were amazing, and the little terrace—plus the private onsen—was just unbeatable. Imagine soaking in the onsen while looking out into the forest. It’s incredibly calming. We also recommend trying the local breakfast and dinner (book in advance); it’s a truly exceptional culinary experience. Thank you so much for the best stay in the world! We would love to come back.
