We had a wonderful stay in Travelers’ house ROOTs! We visited Japan during golden weeks and every hotel around had been booked so we found this beautiful hostel to spend our holiday. If you’re thinking it’s just a bed to sleep in then you’re wrong. It’s not only clean and comfortable but also well equipped with everything you need. I could feel that the owner is considerate from the detail such as the basket outside of the shower room and the soundproof carpet on the stairs. The owner also speaks fluent english and easy to talk to. We arrived late and he recommended us some amazing local restaurants open late. Thanks to this hostel in Takaoka we got the chance to know this place better.

“Absolutely fun, enjoying the vibes, and an amazing stay!”
The owner was incredible, he was the most amazing host I had ever at an hostel! The beds were quite comfy and if you need another pillow he’ll offer you one! The towels are multi time use when paying one time 100 yen throughout your entire stay, I was there for almost four days and it was fun! I cooked food at the kitchen and shared it with the host too, he absolutely loved it! If you’re an international traveler, make sure to stop here!

“Overall lovely short stay walking distance from Takaoka station. Lovely staff and very comfy beds.”
It is very close to station, about 7min walk. The beds were were very comfy and staff spoke both Enlgish and Japanese. There is also free coffee and tea in the morning with a V60 at service.

“Amazing hostel, I would go again without hesitation”
Super friendly and helpful staff. Great deals on many restaurants and great recommendations! Spacious, clean and modern. Easy access from the station. Has some groceries and stuff for sale to avoid going outside.

The staff is nice and helpful. Dormitory bed is chose, but the shared room is spacious than other hostels. Also, the bed is comfortable. The common area is well decorated and you can talk with the room rate. read various magazines about hiking and Japanese comics~~
