“Comfortable and clean”

The owner is very friendly and funny. He stays with us on the 2nd floor so he can assist if we have any problem. The location is quite far from the downtown but very close to Franky statue (Onepiece Straw hat's member - just 3 min drive). The futong is comfortable, we love it.

“Enjoyable stay”

The lodging was clean, neat and comfortable. The owner was friendly. There were home made pizzas & drinks for order which were great when you arrived in evening and didn’t feel like going out. Coffee/tea & home baked bread for breakfast were complementary. It was an enjoyable stay!

Our host Stefano was so warm and welcoming he made our stay exceptionally good, we didn’t expect our room to be so well designed in a thoughtful Japanese style. If you are driving through this area, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property, we wish we could have stayed another night. To top it off Stefano is a chef, his restaurant is definitely worth a visit!

“Fabulous and traditional”

Great location for exploring the Aso region. The room was huge with plenty of amenities, fridge, crockery and cutlery for example and there were extra futons if one is not enough for sleeping on. Fabulous host too

If you want to stay in Japanese classic house ( Not Japanese-style hotel), SABOJI guesthouse is the answer.

Stefano is very friendly and accommodating. He made us fresh bread and jam. It’s really good! Room is very clean and well equipped with towels, toiletries even toothbrushes. I also like that there is plenty of hangers and space to hang clothes. Space for luggage too. Fridge, kettle and coffee machine available for use. Free parking too! Convenient to visit Mt Aso and Takachiho Gorge from here.

“Beautiful traditional house.”

Nice space with traditional futons. Very spacious and quiet. Very nice host who also baked wonderful bread for our breakfast. The owner is currently building a restaurant next door so having meals there might be a possibility in the near future.

Serene and lovely. Stefano is cute and nice to the old ladies. The restaurant he recommended (ちぎら) is exceptional.

“Inaka Life”

Cute little guesthouse in rural Kumamoto at the foot of Mt. Aso. The host, Stefano, was extremely friendly and chatted to us for a while about the local area - he then offered us some of his homemade bread! There is a really nice natural onsen and izakaya nearby - so it was the perfect location to stay to experience rural Japan. Highly reccommended.

The location is within a few mins of drive to nearby local amenities where there are super markets and eateries. We were surprised to meet the owner, an Italian living in Japan for many years, a very jovial guy and speak fluent English. He recommended a few beautiful places to visit and we really enjoyed the visit. The house is very clean. As there was only my family staying during the period and the owner open the room next door to give us more space!
