Pleasant but slightly tatty chalets set in an area of trees with a stream running through, close to the river. Food (buffet style) and boat trips were all excellent, and good value. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Under the palms stay was nice. Harry (your guide) and the person of the boat (forgot the name) are great! These 2 make your stay be memorable. They take you around and they really know how to spot wildlife. They really care.

Amazing location, river safaris were very affordable and we saw loads of wildlife! We liked that we could book the accommodation without having to book on to a whole tour, this gave us flexibility to choose what activities we wanted to do and when! Great community feel to the hotel.

Good room in a jungle hut, not luxurious and not too basic, good standard and reasonably priced. The mosquito screens were intact, I think that's important. When texting them for inquiries, I got good information and they replied fast. Staff was friendly, though a bit unpersonal. They offer boat trips which were also good value and reasonably priced.

The guesthouse in Sukau turned out to be an absolutely magical place – a place we truly want to return to. Our bungalow was simple, comfortable, and cozy. Yes, we occasionally saw lines of ants moving across the floor and bathroom, but given the location deep in the real jungle, it didn’t surprise us and didn’t spoil our stay at all. Breakfasts were modest with little variety. But lunches and dinners were absolutely outstanding – rich, flavorful, varied, and served in such large portions that the food prepared for two could easily feed four. We’ve never eaten so generously in a jungle lodge before. There is a water dispenser with hot and cold water near the reception – a very convenient detail. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and sincere. It truly feels like the people working here genuinely care. A special highlight of our stay was our Kinabatangan River guide. He is simply the best. Thanks to him, we saw wildlife we didn’t even dare to hope for: wild elephants (!), crocodiles, silvered langurs, orangutans, an owl, macaques, and a hornbill. It was absolutely unbelievable – one of the most powerful and memorable experiences we’ve had in Borneo. Our driver also deserves a big thank you – the guy who picked us up from Sepilok and later drove us to Sandakan Airport was incredibly kind and pleasant. There is also a small shop nearby – with the cheapest prices in all of Borneo. A very welcome surprise in such a remote area. The place, the atmosphere, the people – absolutely 10 out of 10. If we ever return to Sukau, we will choose this place again without hesitation. Thank you!

didnt expect the location to be just beside the river, that was indeed mind blowing for me, plenty of parking space and easy to check in, staff was indeed very friendly and helpful, the main attraction was the wildlife exposure and sight seeing. on the second day of my stay i got follow the river cruise which i book on arrival, i was too tired driving on first day so i just rest and book the river cruise for the next day. saw a herd of the elephants and tons of birds , storm stork , kingfishers , egrets , hornbills , ohhh early morning walk around the lodge i manage to see a few oriental pied hornbill just in front of my room. it was awesome. food was very plentiful for the price of rm20 on my dinner. breakfast was complimentary. overall i will definitely stay here again if i ever go for the kinabatangan river cruise. well done to the team that manage the place.
