“Cozy stay in a traditional building in Stykkisholmur”
Cute boutique hotel in a traditional building right by the port in Stykkisholmur. There are two excellent restaurants just across the street, and a nice Icelandic breakfast is provided by the hotel. The hotel has a small bar which is excellent for pre- (or post-) dinner drinks. Stykkisholmur is a very pretty little town and a great spot to stop before a day driving around the Snaefellnes peninsula.

“A charming hotel in the heart of town.”
Stayed over in Hotel Karolina across the street which had larger rooms, very nice upstairs room with views to kill for. Great breakfast - dinner in Sjávarpakkhúsið, in my view one of the the best restaurants in Iceland. Great staff.

The staff made this stay really enjoyable. Had a great chat to Marta (Martha?) while we sat in the lovely common area downstairs and flipped through their excellent selection of books.

The hotel is in a great location, comfortable and it feels more like staying with friends than at a hotel. Monica was wonderful, very helpful with travel advice and places to visit and we loved all the books and comfy chairs in the lounge.

“The perfect hotel in the perfect location”
Stykkisholmur is a picture-book pretty town at the eastern end of the Snaefelsnes Peninsula, looking out to the north towards the fjords. As a setting it's both remote and breathtakingly beautiful. The Hotel Egilsen is a small, cosy hotel in the harbour area, and honestly it's just the best hotel we've ever stayed in. This has a very great deal to do with Monica, who runs the reception desk, makes legendary breakfasts, serves coffee and biscuits whenever you ask, recommends wonderful walks and restaurants, and just generally makes you feel so so welcome you never want to leave. We're already making plans to return - to Snaefelsnes, to Stykkisholmur and to Hotel Egilsen! Oh, and one further note. If you come here, don't miss Sugandisey Island. You can walk to it across a causeway from Stykkisholmur harbour, and the views from the top of the cliff are unforgettable. But then everything about Stykkisholmur is unforgettable.

“An unexpected nice surprise”
No doubt: the warmest possible welcome by Marta, the nicest hotel guest that I've met in many years and I have made hundreds of check-ins in those many years. Professional, kind and informative.

“Generally speaking, it's okay for one night stay.”
hotel stuff is kindly, he kept waiting for us till 10:30 pm, and helped us carry the big luggages to our room which locates at 3rd floor. Very nice. And the location is very good — the moment you step out, you're right on the very street that served as the filming location for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
