“very disappointing”

It started with no reply on our booking. 1,5 months later we wrote & asked 4 check-in info - still no answer. 1 week later, we wrote again & finally received a message - solely in Norwegian (just like the info-brochure in the house itself) - not much of a point but it adds to the picture. Upon arrival we found constr. planks on the side terrace which left the impression some construction works didn´t get finished. On the front terrace the charcoal bag was ripped open in the rain next to the brush laying on the ground. The kitchen was not only in various parts quite dirty (crumbles & hair within the cupboards & on the tableware, stains & crumbles in the fridge & a lot of grease under & on top of the kitchen hood which made it impossible using it without getting oily hands), parts of the kitchen were not functioning properly (fridge doors not mounted anymore to the cupboard cover, lights over the dining table not working, missing cupboard door handle). Then completely packed cupboards with various open &/or long expired food packages, 2 of the 3 ice shelfs also completely full with long overdue food, meat, etc (while being almost blocked with ice) & an especially dirty microwave oven & kitchen stove. Cleaning buckets & rags on the sauna seats - hygiene? The backrest of the see-through plastic chairs smeared with stains from jam-hands, the sofa-blankets & pillows were covered in large brown stains & beer cans under the bed This house was advertised with a whirlpool & a sauna which we couldn´t force ourselves to use due to the mentioned hygienic findings. The landlords response was quite short, asking what we suggest to do now - as if we were in such a situation often. After we didn´t have an idea, they offered to stay one night longer for free - as if that would be easy for working people who have to plan their yearly vacation months in advance.
