What a fabulous start to our South African - Western Cape road trip. Penelope's really set the standard and we wondered: "Was it downhill all the way now?" Twas not to be and high standards are the norm in SA.. Warm welcome to a lovely room with garden view, only a few guests so felt like a homeshare rather than hotel and lovely b'fast on the patio. Help yourself/honesty bar cold drinks in a fridge at any time. Secure parking of course and s short drive to downtown Stellenbosch which was our favourite place in the Western Cape (nicer than Cape Town). Lots of lovely colonial architecture and places to visit. We went for a meal at Stellenbosch Reserve, one of the many wine producers in the area. Lovely food, exemplary service and the mountain view - never to be forgotten. We are not wine drinkers but worth the drive out for the experience. Start your South African visit at Penelope's!

The guest house is a beautiful well-maintained building. The rooms are very comfortable with attention to detail. Rusks and little treats on the pillows. The bed was large and comfortable, with a good mattress. A lovely balcony with a view of the mountains in a peaceful and safe neighborhood. A good breakfast and the hostess was friendly and engaging. Will definitely stay again.

A Hidden Gem in Cape Town – Perfect Stay During SARIMA Conference I had the pleasure of staying at Penelope’s property during the SARIMA conference in Cape Town, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The home is architecturally stunning, with a modern yet warm design that immediately makes you feel welcome. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated, and the rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable throughout my stay. One of the standout features was the serene environment it offered the perfect escape after long conference days. Mornings were a treat with a delicious breakfast served in a peaceful setting. The property is ideally located: just a stone’s throw away from a beautiful open recreation centre and nestled beside a scenic mountainous area. Public amenities are all within close reach, which made getting around incredibly convenient. The neighbourhood itself is safe and tranquil, with well-paved roads and inviting streets. I felt completely at ease going for early morning runs or evening strolls. The fast and reliable Wifi was a definite plus, and having access to Netflix made unwinding in the evenings all the more enjoyable. The hosts were exceptionally hospitable-warm, attentive and always ready to help with anything I needed. Their genuine care truly elevated the entire experience. All in all, Penelope’s place offered the perfect balance of comfort, convenience, and charm. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cape Town whether for business or leisure.
