Stayed here for our last night in Tunisia. We wish we'd decided to go to Sousse earlier in our trip and had found this place - it would have been amazing to stay a few nights. The house is beautiful, and the room we had was really comfortable. The shared kitchen and bathroom are amazing too. Toutou is a fantastic host. He made us feel right at home and had many great suggestions for us (especially for the next time we're in Tunisia). Can't wait to return!

“A great base for multiple trips in the area”

As I had read in previous reviews, the hospitality from Majdi (Toutou) was fantastic. He contacted me after booking to help me make arrangements and gave advice about how to arrive. He made a great effort to get to know us all and help us integrate with each other, and gave advice about trips. Breakfast was delicious, especially with his mum's harissa. The location was great to get to Sousse and beyond with taxi or louage. There was also access to use the kitchen, and a laundry service which was very efficient.

Everything in general was good. The host / owner is superb.

I had good expectations for Dar Hkaiem before I went, but they were surpassed by a lot. This is all thanks to the dedication and hard work of Toutou who clearly puts all his heart to ensure his guests have an amazing stay. It is also thanks to the amazing people who I met there. I came with no plans but Toutou recommended me places to go and things to do, and gave us a free tour around his beautiful hometown. I came alone, but Toutou did his best to bring people together.

toutou is honestly the best host I've come across, and I've been to all continents and many countries! he is genuinely enthusiastic about helping his guests out. he makes sure you're well taken care of and radiates energy that he cares about you, not only as a customer, but also as a fellow human being. he performed black magic to fix my broken suitcase even! He also gave me the best fishing experience and cooked professionally well for me afterwards. he's the best thing that happened to me this month-long trip

Enjoyed our stay at Dar Hkaiem, it was very pretty and had some nice touches such as his mums Harissa! Tutu was a great host, very chatty and willing to help with whatever we wanted to do. We stayed here at the start and end of our trip and we were provided with airport transfers to Enfidah airport which were reliable. If you wanted to use Sousse as a base to explore Tunisia this would be an ideal place as tutu would assist with organising whatever you wanted.

Dar Hkaiem is in a lovely traditional neighbourhood. Can easily walk to the beach. Public transport easily available. Private rooms with communal kitchen and common areas. Outdoor area for dining. Very relaxing and quiet. The owner Tou Tou is a real gem. Very helpful, thoughtful and kind. Very knowledgeable about Tunisia. I highly recommend this property.

We stayed two nights in this very welcoming, clean hostel with all the necessary comforts. The host, Toutou, is extremely helpful, kind, and very friendly. If you're looking for a place that reminds you of home when you're traveling, this is the perfect place!

Totou is a great host and you can ask him any questions. He has an answer for almost everything. And has good recommendations

The room is clean and cozy, the bathroom is shared but super clean, and the environment is quiet.

The host is very friendly and nice from the minute we booked he contacted us with location,the rooms were super clean and everything was availabe adding alexa to the facility for sure made it moreeee beautiful well i guess i found my second home in sousse 🤩

Absolutely everything was perfect about my stay. The host is extremely personable, likeable, conversational and helpful with every single question you have. More than this, he goes above and beyond for you, inviting you to hang out and show you local spots and just give you everything he can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this place for travellers, solo or otherwise. My room was clean, comfortable and the air conditioning was a lifesaver. 10/10!

My stay at Dar Hkaïem was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It's such a rare find to stay somewhere where the host not only provides a place to stay, but where you get such a personal experience with the host and other guests, a home away from home. The guesthouse was firstly very clean and well-equipped, in a charming neighborhood of Hammam Sousse (different to Sousse). But the true heart of this place was Toutou the host, who offered services such as walking tours (charged at a reasonable price, perhaps he should even charge more!), giving you travel tips, painstakingly making you a delicious breakfast (sometimes with the help of his family), as well as services such as laundry (also with the help of his family) and airport transfer (helped by his friends). I visited places based on Toutou's recommendations which I was very happy with (e.g. the local hammam, a souvenir shop where the owner gave us very fair discounted prices). During the week when i visited I even attended one of his friend's weddings 😅 I felt like I got to know the local community a little bit through staying here. Do not hesitate to stay here, I found it very difficult to leave! Toutou is a truly unique host and Dar Hkaïem is unforgettable.

This accommodation is an excellent choice for those wishing to explore various locations from Sousse. The bedroom is both comfortable and clean. I highly recommend it for solo travelers or couples.
