Overview
Located on an old farm, Guesthouse Stekkatún is 600 metres from Vatnajökull National Park. It offers free parking and basic rooms with shared bathroom facilities. Thorbergssetur Museum is 25 km away. Marked hiking trails lead from the property to the national park. Tours of the glacier are arranged every day. From late May to early September, breakfast with homemade jam and bread is served each morning at Stekkatún Guesthouse. Free tea and coffee is available at all times. Skálafell Restaurant is 200 metres away. Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is 30 km away. Höfn town centre is 40 km from the guesthouse.

Guesthouse Stekkatun was very nice. Ula, hostess, was very friendly. The room was cozy and had comfortable beds. The bathroom was clean and the shower had hot water. The breakfast was very good too. This guesthouse has the best toilet paper! It’s soft and not scratchy!

everything was great! the place was clean, comfortable and cozy, it was actually one of the tidiest accommodations I’ve stayed at in Iceland. the owners were really nice and helpful, and the breakfast was really good too

“Beautiful location and delicious breakfast!”
The place is far from light contamination, and has some quite stunning views. The owners are lovely people! Breakfast was fabulous, with many homemade, delicious products. This is close to Hofn and that is a plus if you don't mind driving for dinning out.

“Relaxing and friendly stay after a long day's drive to see the glaciers”
The guesthouse is located between mountains and the sea in Iceland breathtaking southern coast. The couple running it are helpful and sweet and their homemade breakfast was delicious! There was no problem arriving later than 9 pm, just a quick phone call to let them know. The guesthouse is very spacious and clean, though the individual rooms are basic.

“Remote stay in a nice guesthouse in a remote part of Iceland”
That a place like this exist in this place considering the remoteness. Nice friendly staff. God comfortable bed (sleep rely well). Great breakfast.

We had a really pleasant stay at this hostel. Ola, the housekeeper, was extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with anything we needed. The hostel itself was well-equipped and clean, which made it a comfortable place to stay. Overall, it was a great experience, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and welcoming place to stay.

“Cozy and welcoming”
Felt very welcomed to this guesthouse, despite spending only 1 night. Ula provided all information for the check-in, as I arrived late in the evening and she was very friendly and helpful the next morning during breakfast. The room was cozy and welcoming. There's parking space in front of the house and the location on the Ring Road was perfect.

“Great stay for through Iceland”
We lost track of time driving through iceland so we arrived a little late. But we where welcomed by Ula with open arms. The rooms were nice and breakfast was wonderfull. Great coffee ;) Ula did an amazing job.

“I would strongly advise against staying at Guesthouse Stekkatun.”
I would strongly advise against staying at Guesthouse Stekkatun. My experience there was incredibly disappointing and uncomfortable. The host was unfortunately rude and unwelcoming, making me feel unwelcome throughout my stay. To make matters worse, I discovered bed bugs in my room, which is absolutely unacceptable for any accommodation. This led to itchy bites and a very unpleasant sleep experience. Additionally, the view from the guesthouse was not as advertised. The pictures online were misleading, and the actual view was quite underwhelming. Overall, my stay at Guesthouse Stekkatun was a nightmare. The combination of a rude host, bed bugs, and a misleading view made it one of the worst travel experiences I've ever had. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere.

“Perfect guests!”
Incredibly helpful guests! We had a flat tyre and they helped us repump it, I don't know how we would have managed without them <3
