Overview
Set on a farm by Vatnajökull National Park, just 600 metres from the Ring Road, is this family-owned guest house. It offers a furnished terrace and an on-site restaurant with bar. Views of the surrounding mountains can be enjoyed from all rooms at Guesthouse Skálafell, along with wooden floors and a wardrobe. Some have a private bathroom, while others have access to shared facilities. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas, such as the communal TV lounge. Skálafell’s breakfast buffet provides homemade jams, pancakes and waffles, while dishes made from local produce and meat are served for dinner. Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is 40 km away and Skálafellsjökull Glacier is 3 km from the guest house. Other area activities include hiking, jeep excursions and horseback riding trips.

Quite basic accommodation, but VERY clean and comfortable. Not many places to stay in this area so Guesthouse Skálafell is a very welcome retreat. Beds were super comfy too. A great place for a stopover during a long trip.

This was the best accommodation of our entire holiday in Iceland. Everything here is perfect. The best breakfast we had in Iceland, and very kind staff, mainly Vašek, who was extremely nice, helpful, and friendly. It was truly two beautiful days. We fell in love with this place.

“Fantastic place, great hosts, cosy cabins, lovely breakfast.”
Beautiful remote location, our favourite place on our trip. We were a family of 4 and had two of the cabins. Very comfortable beds and rooms were very cosy. Wished we could have stayed longer. Also very generous breakfast in the morning.

This little stop over in the farm was great ! We've been welcomed by the family dog :) Quiet, clean and you get to see the northern lights ! Breakfast has everything you need, it's not as big as you get in a hotel of course but for the value of money it's perfect :)

“This guesthouse was clean, friendly and welcoming.”
The breakfast was abundant and in a restaurant-like setting (ie communal). The server was attentive and generous, as well as friendly. Extra assistance was given the previous evening; it was very much appreciated!

“It was an excellent stay”
The room was very nice with its private bathroom. Everything was very clean. The free breakfast was simple (cold spread) but had everything we wanted (eggs, veggies, yogurt etc.). The best thing is the farm dog called Saga. She comes to greet you and play with you, and goes hiking with you! There's a nice hiking track just behind the farm.
