“Incredible such a beautiful way to end the Kumano kodo”

Absolutely amazing to stay in temple and do calligraphy and meditation with the head monk.

It was a pleasant stay at unique place. We’ve had 3 nights and still not enough to visit all attractions :)

If you have the chance to stay here, do so… it was a very special, memorable place. I loved it and I hope to keep trying some of the practices we tried here. I visited with my teenage daughter and am so glad we did. Thankyou to all the kind staff

“Unique experience”

It’s a little far from everything, but if you’re looking for a quiet place in the countryside, it’s a great option. It was definitely a unique experience, and it was wonderful to speak with and interact with the monk who takes care of the temple. We tried all of the experiences they offer, and it was truly worth it.

Great experience to stay at a Temple and get lots of Information to the temple and Buddhism by the very friendly monk. The staff was also very friendly and it was a very nice stay with lots of interesting activities.

- The place is gorgeous and spotlessly clean. - Beautiful traditional living quarters. - Many many rooms to look through and admire. - You can participate in sounding the bell with the monk in the evening.

“Highly recommend”

I cannot recommend this enough. The temple itself is beautiful, and the surrounding area as well. Everyone was extremely nice! We had to use google translate a couple of times to ask certain questions but everything went smoothly. We also selected the option of joining the morning prayer and stamp making with the monk (which were both really good), as well as the dinner (which was incredible). I don’t think we realised at the time of booking the size of the “room”, but it was essentially a massive place just for the two of us! (I think it can fit up to 6 or 8 people), so it really felt like we had the whole area just for us. We went by car and did a few stops around the temple which were also very worth while. Overall, we really enjoyed it and highly recommend both the stay and joining some of their experiences.

It was a unique and authentic experience, spending the day in a real temple with a real monk, without other visitors. It offered a genuine insight into temple life, the history of Buddhism, and included engaging activities (buddhist statues, stamps, and morning meditation).

“Amazing temple style hotel”

Amazing old style temple with awesome road that takes you to the hotel. There is a small common kitchen you can use to prepare a small dinner or breakfast. There was also a common bathtub that was very good.

We had a lovely time at the temple! We had four of the temple experiences and in addition got to ring the dong at sunset which was very special! From the experiences we took the statue tour, the morning prayer, zazen meditation and the monk porridge! The chief monk at the temple gave us great insight into the buddhist practices, and now we have tools to use forward in our own meditations! Ameneties and lodging were good, and we felt very welcome at the site.

I had a fantastic time here. The head monk is very knowledgeable and speaks excellent English. The experiences offered are engaging and the area is beautiful.

Tranquil surroundings. Tried the temple experience here: sutra copying, zen meditation and morning porridge. The chief monk is patient enough to explain the process and purposes. Comfy room with full amenities I need. Well-equipped kitchen and dining room. Lady boss is fluent in English and fetches me to the nearby supermarket to buy groceries.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. A real treat to be able to do activities at the temple with the resident monk. Also a very short commute from the Taiji station. Heaters / air cons were provided, comfortable futons, large area of the temple with a few rooms including a dining room and of course the old temple and gardens are very charming. Also great value for money.

“An amazing experience as well as a comfortable stay”

An absolutely amazing place to stay. The head moni is a marvelous host. It's worth joining some of the temple experiences as well to hear his great explanations of temple life and the building history. The guesthouse itself is very spacious, and has a lot of modern comforts as well despite the traditional simple looks. There's a big kitchen as well to make your own meals. We unfortunately could only stay for one day, but I'd really recommend staying several days if you can to really explore the area and soak up a bit of the tranquility of the place.
