“20/10 and worth your buck!”
20/10 for this experience ! Initially stayed at a 5 star hotel before staying with Mohammad and Helen , and I can say I had a even better stay with these guys, from the food and drinks to the hospitality it was top notch! They went beyond to make mine and Sophie’s stay memorable and enjoyable , they do a lovely breakfast and dinner right beside a lovely swimming pool where you can relax and enjoy the sun and view of the mountains , a proper Egyptian experience. I would reccomend to anybody who wants something different rather than the usual tourist all inclusive holiday. They will look after you and take you places a lot cheaper than the average taxi so make sure you ask them and they will look after you same way they did to me. I will be visiting here again and I have made life long friends!

“Not for everyone — but just right if you’re open”
Before I arrived, I came across a very negative review — I only read the headline, and that was probably for the best. Sometimes a few words are enough to protect us from stepping into someone else’s projection before we’ve had the chance to form our own impression. Mohamed (Manager) and Helen (Owner) are not your typical, by-the-book hosts — and that’s not a weakness, it’s a strength. They don’t come across as systematically professional in the conventional sense, but rather as individual, genuine, and principled. People who expect clear structures and seamless hospitality might find that disorienting. What I encountered was this: A place with energy. Two people who don’t explain everything, but make a lot possible. And an atmosphere that, if you’re open to it, doesn’t feel like a service — but like a quiet mirror. Too much for some. Exactly right for others. I belong to the latter.

From the moment of pressing the button to Confirm Booking. Helen's Communication was instant. Helen kindly picked me up as they Provide a Taxi service & made me feel so Welcome immediately. The Hospitality of the Hosts was exceptional. As a Weary Traveller I was welcomed with Fresh Juice & Tasty Food. Away from the Noise of SharmsTourist Trap in a Authentic Local Neighborhood is a Private Oasis. Lounging by the Pool staring at the Imposing Rockscape. Mohammed is busy Cooking another Fantastic Meal. I Booked one night & ended up staying three. It felt like a Home away from Home.

“Totally reccomend to avoid mass tourism”
Really great and quiet place, not your usual Sharm stay. Staff is usper friendly. They come pick you at the airport and drtive u there, cook nice dinner and make sure your needs are attended to. It's a really quiet place among the local sharm villag, far from the mass tourism.

“Total peace”
The place is absolutely amazing if what you look for is peace and retreat from the crowds. It is removed from the sea and the center, but you can get there in 10 minutes by taxi for about 200-300 Egyptian pounds. Ale (employee and chef) is available all day long and fulfills all your requests and needs. You get breakfast every day and the dinner is also recommended if you don't want to get down to the center every day. There is a local market a few steps away from the place where you find some local food and fresh fruits for very little money. The place is calm, quiet, it is more than ideal for relaxation, reading, and long conversations with your travel partner(s). The overall atmosphere is about the silence of the desert, keep this in mind. On the practical side, communication with the management (Helen the owner and Mohammed the manager) is excellent, they also provide airport shuttle which is absolutely recommended. Highly recommended place, if you are clear about what you are looking for, this place will not disppoint you at all.

We were made to feel incredibly welcome Mohamed and Mohamed were always on hand yo assist us or take us anywhere that was needed. They connected well with the kids and really made our experience relaxing and enjoyable. It was great to have the space and quiet that came with the more out of the way location.

“Would recommend this for a peaceful rest”
An absolute enclave of serenity if you are looking for a very reasonably priced accommodation and to simply relax look no further. The owner Mohammad was amazing freshly prepared breakfast in the morning and he will cook you a delicious meal in the evening. The bar is well stocked with local beer wine and spirits and snacks can be prepared if you are hungry during the day.The property is 15 minutes drive from the hotel but the owner will take you out to the beach or shopping etc for half the price of a taxi.He will meet you at the airport as a welcome stranger and will drop you back as a firm friend after your stay 🙂

“Superb for a laid back, pampered break away from the crowds”
SUPERB If you want relaxing accommodation away from the resort crowds, this may well suit you ideally. Situated just outside the official resort area, Old Spices is in a local community where the calls to prayer and bleating goats, are as noisy as it gets. In terms of ‘you get what you pay for,’ this rustic guest house correctly belongs in the budget sector, relative to many resort hotels and their amenities and of course, the accompanying costs! If your budget is restricted, it still supplies you with everything that you need to have a most enjoyable stay. However, where it surpasses virtually all of the resort options, is the personal care provided by the hosts, Mohamed and Helen. Nothing is too much trouble for them and this makes it feel like a ‘home from home.’ For us, this included a birthday cake and card for my son, for whom this trip was a family present. Mohamed makes himself available to provide transport to and from anywhere in the district, at a rate which beats any of the professional taxis. If your desired destination lies further afield and beyond his scope, he will negotiate a fixed price from a taxi firm at an unbeatable rate. The resort’s numerous excursions all provide a pick-up/drop-off service at the nearby resort gateway, where Mohamed will take you to/from for free (some excursion drivers will automsautomatically drop you off at Old Spices). Food is always fresh and tasty, catered to the individual. Advice on all things Egyptian, plus tips on Arabic, are in abundance. For the more adventurous, the large rock formation which provides the western backdrop to Old Spices and lies at its back door, provides a very good workout if you don’t mind heights and a bit of scrambling. The panoramic view from the top is well worth the effort! So, if you just want a crowded cosmopolitan hotel on the beach, with loads of nightlife, look elsewhere!

Very authentic hotel. Friendly personnel. The owner of the hotel replies fast to the messages. I had the flight arriving at 3 a.m and I had booked the transfer at the hotel. The driver was waiting for me in time as well as the receptionist at the hotel. Nice breakfast. You can also order lunch if you want. I was going to Dahab the next morning and I booked two way transfer in the hotel also. I forgot some clothes in the hotel and they were brought to me by the driver who took me from Dahab to Sharm-el-Sheikh

“Our group booked all rooms and enjoyed a great stay”
The location is safe and quiet, away from the chaotic tourism of Sharm, yet only a 20 minute ride away from the souq, etc. The owners Mohammed and Helen treated us like royals and did everything possible to look after us.

The hotel was really amazing and wonderful. We wanted to stay longer but „unfortunately“ we already booked another hotel in advance. However, it was really small and cozy and exactly what we liked!
