Location and ease of getting to the NECC centre. It’s always a busy time if there’s a fair on, a bit of patience is needed with the staff, otherwise it was good.?

Breakfast selection good. Position very close to Hongqiao station

Food in general good. Good and supportive guy at hotel lobby, Mr Luka, he immediately changed my room that was not suitable for humidity smell inside. Lady at lobby coffee shop not so kind, Ms Hannah never smiled, always cold welcome.

“Extremely disappointing stay, Far below the Intercontinental standards”

Extremely disappointing stay...Far below the Intercontinental standards Our stay at this Intercontinental Shanghai Hongqiao was deeply unsatisfactory, falling far short of expectations for a global hotel chain. Communication Issues & Poor Service: Only two staff members spoke English—one was helpful in providing directions, while the other, a particularly rude woman at the breakfast buffet, repeatedly harassed us, falsely claiming our booking was only for two people and demanding extra payment (waving a bill in our faces). This was incorrect, as we had already paid for three guests. We send her off multiple times to the reception to check, yet not a sign of an aplogatic look or being sorry..only a "dirty-stare" .. same story the very next morning. Unprofessional Gym & Spa Staff: The gym and spa staff were shockingly unprofessional. When we inquired (via translation) about the steam room to the woman in the morning shift (should couldnt speak any english & was very dismissive) she called a middle-aged man who was working out inside the gym, he took us inside the changing room mumbling rudely in chinese, then when we arrived at the sauna we explain via the translation app that we were looking for the steam room... he lost it and began shouting at us in Chinese. It turns out there was no steam room—yet instead of clarifying, the staff refused to call reception to resolve the misunderstanding. When we escalated the issue, the reception staff either didn’t speak English and responded with dismissive smiles and vague acknowledgments ("OK, OK"), offering no real solution. The hotel management is free to check the cameras on 16th April around 7:40ish AM.in the SPA. The 3 other people in the shower area came out to see what is going on... Unwelcoming Atmosphere & Poor Breakfast buffet: The breakfast buffet was underwhelming, especially for the Intercontinental.

Great hotel, especially if you’re attending an exhibition at the NECC. I was able to access the exhibition through the hotel, which was very convenient. The rooms are good with the basic amenities you’d expect from an Intercontinental Hotel. The breakfast was good. There’s also access to the subway via the NECC which makes it convenient to get around Shanghai.
