“Beautifully designed home with both modern and traditional Japanese touches, wonderful hospitality”
Beautifully designed home with both modern and traditional Japanese touches, well-located in the center of town. Don't miss out on the traditional Japanese breakfast, stocked in the fridge the night before for you to warm up in the morning. Beautifully presented and delicious. Recommendations around town are also spot on. Many design and architecture books to peruse. The host went out of their way to help me with taxi arrangements and restaurant reservations, and I was really grateful for the high level of service.

“This was the jewel in the crown of a beautiful country.”
This hotel was our favourite accommodation in Japan. The place was simply beautiful. It is presented beautifully, it is a piece of art. It is fully self contained so we were able to take advantage of the local produce and prepared it the way we like our food. The hotel has three separate rooms so it would be brilliant for families or larger groups travelling together. The staff are located in an arts shop down stairs and the garden area is exclusive to you and the team who occasionally walk through it to access their lunch room. The staff are wonderful. They helped me to print some important documents I needed to sign urgently and when we left, I managed to leave my briefcase behind (containing passports etc). They tracked down our taxi driver who turned around and reunited us with our valuable items. Sasayama is famous for its arts and culture, and is a very quiet, laidback little town. I hired a bike to cycle through the town to explore as much as I could early in our stay and we walked everywhere after that. We just loved this town. The staff are very friendly and although one of the team members has excellent English, other team members struggle with other languages. We managed to work it all out using our phones as translators, and as I mentioned before, they were very helpful both practically and with suggestions on what to see and do.
