The hostel is well situated, right next to the beach, and you can easily walk there. They organize activities every evening, which makes it easy to meet and connect with other travelers. The staff is friendly. I didn’t use the kitchen, but it seemed fine. The beds are ok, the private shower I had was clean enough, and breakfast is decent—you get three fruits and one pancake.

La Posada is more than just a hostel — it’s a place that truly feels like home. Just a few steps from Playa Carmen, surrounded by the sound of the ocean and the rhythm of the waves, it’s a true paradise for surfers of every level. They offer surfboard rentals at fair prices compared to nearby shops, especially if you rent for several days. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are cooled by air conditioning, and the common spaces are always clean, welcoming, and FULL OF LIFE (special thanks to GATO for this). But the real soul of La Posada lives in its PEOPLE. As a solo traveler, I was welcomed with warmth from the very first day. From the kind and attentive management to the amazing volunteers, everyone made me feel at home, and never alone. I spent the Christmas holidays there, and instead of feeling far from home, I found myself sharing laughter, meals, and moments that felt like family. La Posada will definitely be my go-to place every time I come back to Costa Rica. Highly recommended!

Closeness to the city

The hostel was very good, extremely friendly staff a decent free breakfast, a bathroom with shower in the 6 bed dorm. Very close to the beach literally 2 minutes walk. The hostel had a good size swimming pool. A short walk to the restaurant & bars, shops laundry atm.

It was great!! The atmosphere, the people working there, the people I met, the facilities they have : biliard, ping pong, pool. Totally recommend it!!

“A great and comfortable hostel to meet new friends!”

I loved my stay at this hostel :) The energy is amazing here and it is really easy to meet new friends here! Additionally the hostel is super close to the beach and has a great location! I was worried that there would be no AC in my 4-bed mixed dormitory because it is not listed, however they had AC in I think all rooms. There was also a super cute cat that was very entertaining!

The staff were friendly and happy to help with booking tours and transfers or any other questions you might have about the local area. The location was right on the beach and there was lots of nice bars and restaurants to visit in the evening. Especially to watch the sunset from the beach.
