“Extremely disappointing stay”
I stayed at Salinas del Mar from May 16 through May 19, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst lodging experiences I have ever had. Upon arrival, the property appeared nice, but several major issues became apparent immediately: The air conditioning was not working. Despite reporting the issue, we spent two extremely uncomfortable nights in the unit because management was unwilling or unable to move us to a comparable or upgraded accommodation. The shower drain was defective. Every time we showered, water flooded into the apartment. I ended up spending nearly an hour mopping water off the floor during my vacation because the drainage problem was never properly addressed. The bed was far too small and uncomfortable for two adults. It was significantly smaller than what most travelers would reasonably expect when booking a vacation rental. When I reported these issues, management's only solution was to offer a different unit that was clearly inferior to the one I had booked. They also offered a discount of 200,000 Colombian pesos (approximately $50 USD), which did not come close to compensating for the inconvenience and poor conditions. I was not looking for a discount—I simply expected the accommodations I paid for or a suitable upgrade given the circumstances. The situation became even more frustrating when I spent a day on a nearby island with limited phone reception. While management attempted to contact me regarding a payment matter, I was unable to respond immediately due to the lack of service. Rather than waiting for me to return and resolve the issue, they chose to deactivate my access to the apartment. As a result, after spending the day in the sun, we returned to find ourselves locked out of the unit. We were unable to access the bathroom, shower, or our belongings until the issue was resolved. This was completely unacceptable and demonstrated a lack of professionalism and customer service. Overall, the property failed to deliver basic expectations.
