A lovely guest house with a very friendly owner, who prepared a great breakfast everyday. Also the terrace is very nice to hang out during the day. There is free water and a fridge available for shared use.

If you want to stay in a large soulless hotel Casa Dona Carmela is probably not for you. However if you want to stay in a small warm quirky hotel then it is for you. The included breakfast was fantastic. The rooms are small, but clean and a bit offbeat. They had everything you needed. There were additional facilities in the communal areas such as tea, coffee making equipment etc. Amos, the proprietor also provides an honesty bar containing soft drinks and some beer. He will also give you advice on things to see in the city. The location is great for the tram line which is the best way to travel round Santa Cruz. Most of the cities cultural attractions are less than a 30 minute walk from the Casa. We would return.

The host is lovely! Very welcoming and shiny person, serving you delicious breakfast and taking care of every small detail. I stayed in a room with private bathroom outside my room, no problem at all. Property is very nice and clean, with calm and quiet aftmosphere. I wish I had more time to enjoy the beautiful terrace and solarium on the rooftop!

What a lovely experience! The house is beautifully maintained, very clean, and full of vintage charm. The rooftop is perfect for enjoying a morning coffee with a peaceful view. Breakfast was excellent — freshly prepared by the host and absolutely delicious. The host was kind and helpful with information, making everything easy and comfortable. The accommodation was excellent, tidy and beyond my expectations. Everything was clean, and the location itself is in a quiet part of town. The accommodation was located near a tram station, which made it easy to explore the city and go to desired locations. Breakfast was excellently organized, with the option of choosing a specific menu for the next day every day. The breakfast food was good quality and plentiful. The host is polite and friendly, unobtrusive, and at the same time at the service of the guests.

Exceptional service and a truly warm welcome. Every detail was perfect, from the delicious, balanced breakfasts to the spotless space. Peaceful location with great connections. One of the best stays I’ve ever had – the host truly sets the bar high!

The whole accomodation has a really nice atmosphere, the room was clean, the breakfast was super, and I haven’t experienced better hospitability elsewhere than here.

There are few rooms and, therefore, travellers. It was cozy and calm. They give you personalised breakfasts and the staff is very nice.
