It was a fun place to stay. And great location

“Cheap and convenient for one night here are there”

It's a very basic place, I had a basic hut. The bed was comfortable enough, I only stayed there one night at a time when I was visiting from another part of the lake. The kitchen has sufficient facilities to make your own food, store in fridge and has an estufa, not just the gas hob. One time I came back after the lakeside entrance was locked up but I hadn't been told (or hadn't understood) that there is another entrance and a kind of hidden walkway to get into the premises after hours, so me and another girl had to climb over the fence, because she didn't know either! It's a bit out of the centre of town which suited me as it was quieter. It's a cheap option. You get what you pay for. Bathrooms were clean.

“This room is unsuitable to be on booking.com”

We checked out early due to the unsuitable conditions in the room we had booked. 1. From the moment we arrived until 4am extremely loud music boomed from bars nearby meaning we were unable to sleep. I understand this is not the fault of the hotel directly however we have now seen multiple bad reviews due to noise and it is clear the hotel hasn’t done anything to try and mitigate the impact. If it is a common complaint it should be mentioned in the hotels description so upon booking customers are made aware. Why not also offer earplugs to guest on nights the music is an issue ? 2. The room was not fitted with curtains or blinds, once the music stopped at 4am the sun-rose by 6am again preventing us from sleeping at all. curtain should be a basic standard for a room on booking.com! 3. The room was filthy, see photos attached but the room was covered in spiderwebs. With large spiders living in the wall about the bed. Flys and other insects infested the room making us really uncomfortable. The kitchen facilities were also dirty on top of the fridge was disgusting and the chopping boards looked they have never been cleaned! We saw some pellets in the floor boards - hopefully not rat droppings - that had clearly been there a long time. This room requires an extreme deep clean before new guests a welcomed and a mosquito net over the bed. 4. The room honestly looked like it is still under construction. There is a large hole in the wall in the bathroom - probably contributing to the number of bugs in the room. The sink was smashed and toilet took over 10 minutes to refill after one flush. The wardrobe was broke and panels off the roof were missing. There was also a hole in the roof, we could hear birds nesting above and the hole mean they could easily enter the room if they wanted too. There were other holes in the walls covered by only mesh letting in bugs and sunlight. This place needs so much work to be guest suitable! 5.

I don't understand why it has so many bad reviews. My friend and I had a great stay. Uncomplicated, the rooms and toilets were clean. Toilets and kitchen are not modern, they are simple, but totally good enough. For backpackers and the price you pay, it's perfect.

Gran Colibri Hostel is perhaps the coziest hostel in town. The small cabins are charming and create a really nice vibe. There are fruit trees and garden beds with delicious fresh herbs. There’s a lovely outdoor kitchen and a rooftop terrace with a view over the lake. The location is absolutely perfect—right down by the lake, with the option to swim morning, noon, and evening. It’s a 5-minute walk along the lakeside promenade to the town center, which means it’s just far enough away from the music and partying in town. The staff are incredibly sweet and helpful. They offer laundry service, tours, and inexpensive kayak trips. A huge, huge recommendation from here if you’re going to San Pedro!! (The photos don’t even begin to capture how great this place actually is!) 😊

Basic rooms but excellent value for money. Everything was kept very clean. Big kitchen and very well stocked. Nice quiet location only a short walk to the town. Lovely views of the lake

This place is super good value for money, clean, nice activities around (ping pong table, pool, kayaking etc), lovely staff, good shared spaces and wifi. The set up is quite basic, but for the rate you pay it far exceeded our expectations!

Excellent kitchen that was cleaned every day (I have never seen a camp style kitchen that gets it's floor mopped so much) my room wall was repaired while I was there. Some rooms have mosquito nets. They organise rides to chichi market. Love the pool table. Close to local bus routes and an easy walk to San Juan.

Great location on the lake front, easy walk to everything. Cheap beers in the hostel, friendly staff. Laundry service was very fast. Comfortable beds. Good value for money. Nice kitchen and handy little grocery store in kitchen too.

One of my favourite accomodations in all of my travels. Feels like home away from home.

Unfortunately there was a mix up and I was locked out of my room overnight. I had to find other accomodation and when I asked to be refunded for the lost night they refused.

Free hour kayak rental teach day. Right on the waterfront, though you couldn't see it from my rooms. Warm, comfortable, clean. Private room. Excellent value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful. A few communal places to hang out with other guests.

The location was central but quiet. The place was very beautiful and full of potential. It has a gorgeous view over the lake.
