“Very authentic stay in the middle of the trees in this very nice cabaña”

Our stay at the Cabañas Vistas de Altura was perfect. If you are looking for a getaway that is quiet and surrounded by nature with genuine hospitality, this is the place. Our cabana was clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Our favorite thing was to sit on the balcony - which has a water stream running on front - for breakfast just to relax after a day of activities. The host family was incredibly attentive and kind. They brought us fresh pancitos for our breakfast. In addition, Wilberth offer us a horse ride, and we had so much fun. Camila, the granddaugter, kindly help to guide the horse and made the experience super relax and fun. We super the recommend to stay there if you are visiting Lá Fortuna.

“Good value but a little too far away from La Fortuna”

We enjoyed staying here, the family who live close by are polite and very friendly. The room was a little small for us, once we both rolled our bags in there wasn’t much room. We would have both liked a bedside table or somewhere to keep a glass of water and our phones at night other than the floor. A few small touches like a shelf in the bathroom would be nice, rather than toiletries on the floor. It is a 35 minutes drive to/from the centre of La Fortuna. The area is residential and felt safe. It was good value, although some cleaning could have been done better. The coffee machine had mould inside, trying to clean it was made difficult as the tap water wasn’t hot. The balcony area is a very nice place relax.

“Perfect balance between tranquility and adventure.”

The location was peaceful and felt right in nature. We stayed 3 nights in cabaña 2 but wish we could have stayed longer. The cabaña was perfect, we had breakfast on the deck every morning and could hear the creek below us, cicadas, horses and cows in the surrounding area and watched the humming birds feed in the tree beside us. The jacuzzi below the deck was private and we could fill directly with hot water ( recommend planning ahead as it is large and takes a while if you want it hot ). The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating and recommended one of the hikes we took as well as a nearby restaurant for dinner. We were travelling in a Toyota 4x4 Hilux and were able to use this as a base to see all the area around us. We focused on unguided hikes and looked for anything off the beaten track. I would highly recommend this place for adventurous people who are looking to connect with nature. This was a highlight of our trip and look forward to coming back.

“Beautiful accommodation with nature and wildlife, perfect to relax :)”

This was one of our favorite accommodations in Costa Rica. It’s located a little bit outside of La Fortuna and you need a car to reach it but it’s totally worth it because the area is super calm, quiet and has beautiful nature. The apartment feels like a luxury treehouse and had everything included that we needed. The owners were super sweet and made us feel so welcomed and were super helpful with questions and suggestions. They even surprised us with free fresh and warm bread when we arrived. Even though they couldn’t speak English and we couldn’t speak Spanish the communication worked super well using a translator. We saw more birds in the trees next to the balcony than we did in many Nationalparks. It even has a private hot tub outside which we really enjoyed after a long day of hiking. Thanks for this wonderful experience!

“Authentic Costa Rican experience”

We loved our stay here. The place is new and well maintained. The hosts are very friendly and quick to respond to any requests. We saw Tucans on the trees just above the place. It is away from the tourist and very quiet. We loved the sound of the river underneath. All in all a great place to stay. Highly recommended.
