Very Disappointing Stay — Not What It Used to Be We stayed at Peace Lodge six years ago and loved it so much we chose it as our only repeat stop on our recent trip to Costa Rica. Sadly, under new management, the experience was very disappointing. The road leading to the lodge was poorly maintained — our vehicle even got stuck in the mud before arrival, which was stressful. Upon arrival, we spent over 30 minutes removing spiders before we could unpack. The shower had huge spider webs, and wasps hovered just outside the door. Inside our room, there were ants crawling on the beds. When I told Josue, the staff member in charge, he didn’t come to check and just said, “They don’t bite.” That was his only response. During the night, our six-year-old woke up crying because a centipede was crawling next to him, and later I nearly stepped on a live scorpion. Two wasps flew inside the room as well. We all had a restless, itchy, and uncomfortable night. To make matters worse, the power went out while I was showering with our kids, leaving us in complete darkness for about 25 minutes. When we told Josue, he initially didn’t believe us and then shrugged it off as a blown fuse. The next morning Josue asked how we slept — I told him “horribly,” and he seemed indifferent to the scorpion, centipede, wasps, and ants. The pool deck was infested with biting “war ants” covering every surface, including chairs and our belongings. We moved chairs multiple times but couldn’t find a safe spot. Josue told us to sit on the grass instead. Only after many complaints did he bring buckets of water to wash down the deck — but that was the morning we were leaving. We paid over $200 for what was supposed to be a restful stay but got none of that. We had to go into town to calm the kids after a terrible night and could not enjoy the pool at all. I’ve run a bed-and-breakfast before and stayed in rustic jungle lodges all over Costa Rica.

A very beautiful and relaxing place, the pool is lovely and the food is amazing. The team are so caring to our needs and we just had the best time ever!

The room is really nice, clean, modern, confortable. The terrace, that looks on the infinity of the ocean, is amazing from sunrise to sunset, night time included. Dinner was delicious.

“The most amazing place to be!”

Where do we start!!! The team at peace and lodge made every effort to make our stay so special! The food was THE BEST food we have ever had! The rooms are so cosy and the view from them is simply out of this world! Watching the sun rise and seeing the clouds roll along the mountain valley like a river simply stunning! If you have the chance to stay here do it you will not be disappointed!

“A piece of paradise”

Laura is a brilliant host and the location is stunning. She’s has created a little slice of heaven up on the top of a mountain. Yes you will def need a 4x4 and the roads are very ‘Costa rican’ but what awaits is truly worth it. The food - from breakfast to the dinner options were really nice. Laura went out of her way to help us with her onward travel and we can’t thank her enough. There is also 3 lovely friendly dogs, 2 cats and a pig called Brad Pig. What more could you really ask for…

Everything!!!! This was the best hotel we stayed at in CR and we stayed in about ten hotels. Laura did an amazing job with this little gem. It‘s just so beautiful - the views, the animals & the amazing breakfast/dinner/wine. We loved every minute of our stay.
