“Authentic Omani heritage house by the castle”

An authentic beautifully renovated Omani house right opposite the castle. Staff are friendly and very welcoming. Our bed was very comfortable and breakfast very good. Up the hill just by the hotel there is a military fort, café and restaurant to sit and admire the breathtaking view and watch the sunset.

It is like staying in a museum. Very quiet despite being in the middle of town. Rahman is a lovely host. We were lucky enough to be the only guests.

Very authentic lodge and a great place to stay in Oman. Suhebur and the other staff were amazing, making us feel very welcome and went out of their way to help. I had left my passport at the car hire company at the airport and Suhebur called the company and arranged for them to deliver my passport to me.

A truly memorable stay at Koofan House. Such fantastic hospitality and personal attention from start to finish. The house is beautiful and well thought out for guests to be comfortable. My sleep restoration reached 99 by the end of the stay. The family ensured I had been able to organise a good itinerary for my trip and gave great local insight. A plentiful breakfast made a good start before sight seeing each day. It’s very well located. Thank you all for making a solo trip to Salalah so reassuringly easy.

Where to start? The house was just beautiful, carefully and sensitively restored with an incredible eye for small details. The hosts were friendly and helpful beyond belief helping with recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants and generally sharing their knowledge of Omani culture and history. The owners are as special and delightful as their wonderful house. The staff was adorable, especially the German speaking receptionist/manager Rahman and the manager of the cafe. The house became our sanctuary for three days/nights.

You can truly feel the history in every corner and every detail. What made our stay even more exceptional was the incredible service. I want to give a special mention to Suhebur Rahman. He is an outstanding professional who went above and beyond to ensure we had a safe and memorable journey. His warmth and dedication are a true reflection of the authentic hospitality this Lodge stands for. If you are looking for a place that offers more than just a room - but a deep connection to Omani history and a soulful atmosphere - this is it. A very beautiful and nicely renovated traditional house next to the mosque and a cemetery where the mother of the late Sultan Qaboos is buried, which is also a museum with the excursions of kids and tours coming throughout the day. It has as small souvenir shop for the last minute gifts but one can buy things 2-3 times cheaper at the Souq in Salalah. What we really liked, was the charm and the atmosphere of the building. We were greeted with dates and coffee. The owner is super friendly and happy to accommodate ones needs. I would have given 10, if it was not about the incident during the breakfast.

Great historical building with fantastic hosts. We slept so well - the hotel is very peaceful and the bed is very comfy. It was great to meet the family who own the hotel and hear about their motivation behind converting the family home into a hotel - to share cultures. They gave great recommendations for places to visit, too. Would recommend.

Staff was very welcoming, hospitality was great. The place was very unique it. The room was very comfortable and clean we managed to sleep very well. Many parts of the old house was open to explore and you can see the history of the place. There is a gift shop on the ground floor which is handy for getting souvinirs. Our booking had breakfast included which as served from the cafe on the ground floor (handy for getting coffee to go as well). The location is great for our travels (next to Taqa castle and within walking distance from borj al asker). All in all, a very unique and highly-recommended experience.

I had the pleasure of staying at Koofan Heritage Hotel during my recent trip to Salalah, and I can confidently say it was one of the highlights of my journey. From the moment I stepped in, I felt immersed in the warmth of Omani culture and heritage. The atmosphere of the hotel is deeply authentic, and it offers a unique sense of peace and comfort that is hard to describe but impossible to forget. The quality of sleep was exceptional , the room was calm, the bed incredibly comfortable, and the natural surroundings made it feel like I was in a serene oasis away from the modern world. The subtle fragrance of natural materials like clay, Luban, wood, and stone gave the space a grounding and peaceful aroma that made me feel instantly at home. It’s rare to find a place where the building itself tells a story, and at Koofan, every wall, texture, and scent speaks of tradition and harmony with nature. A special thanks goes to Mr. Chouaib, whose hospitality, professionalism, and genuine kindness made my stay even more memorable. The entire staff was attentive and welcoming, but Mr. Chouaib truly stood out for his story telling with a personal touch and dedication. Without a doubt, I will reconsider Koofan Heritage Hotel for my next trip to Salalah. If you’re sick from star hotels experiences like myself! Go for it and thank me later!
