“A perfect stay in Spring”
The staff were very attentive and they had a special van to send us to the hotel carpark even though it is located just around the corner. The location across the Tanzan Shrine was excellent as it was the peak Sakura season. The view from the room balcony as well as the restaurant was just splendid. We stayed for two nights and were offered different breakfast and dinner options. I personally preferred the kaiseki dinner to their famous Yoshitsune hotpot.

“Wonderfully quiet traditional hotel with delicious food”
It's a wonderfully charming hotel in the middle of apparent nowhere - i.e. precisely what we were searching for. It isn't really nowhere as there's a ton of historical and natural features nearby but it is still far from the hustle and bustle. It's very peaceful. The staff were very nice and helpful without being overbearing. We were picked up at the station (Sakurai) and after our stay we were shuttled back there. The staff has varying levels of English but it didn't hinder our stay at the slightest - communication was great and they even made to sure to translate some handouts for meals into our native Polish which was a charming gesture. The meals themselves were delicious (caution: the wonderful multi-course dinner has to be ordered in advance!) and served very nicely. Yes, they are pricey but it reflects their quality. The rooms were traditional, with tatami etc and a great view on the temple on the mountainside opposite the hotel. There's also a hot bath and we loved it. If we ever get the possibility of coming back to Japan, we would love to revisit this hotel.

“Go to Tonomine Hotel now!”
Hotel staff were very accommodating and kind! My friend and I were picked up from the Tanzan shrine station where we were awaited with a driver. When we had to go home they also drove us to the station for free. The price for our room was very low and it was really clean and nice. We had a nice view of the mountains and the nature!
