“Great accommodation in lovely area, ideal base for touring”

Very spacious (and extremely quiet) ground floor of a large house originally built in 1602 in very quiet residential location. Good-sized main bedroom with a comfortable large bed. (There were two other good size bedrooms but only two of us.) More than adequate storage space for clothing and cases. Lovely powerful shower and good bathroom facilities with loads of storage areas. The kitchen was amazingly thought out with everything, yes, everything you could ever need for cooking on holiday, nothing was missed. The small garden has an outdoor table and chairs that sadly went unused as we were so active. Parking is nearby and we felt it was secure. The area boasts great access to all the local vineyards. There are many walks nearby, check out the Komoot app. We really liked the area of Grendelbruch for walking. We hired e-bikes from tourist information in Ottrott, just down the road. Ottrott too has a boulangerie and a small grocery store. Obernai, a little further down the road has E.Leclerc and Auchen supermarkets and the Auchen petrol station has good-priced fuel. Places worth a visit are Colmar, a beautiful large town which, despite the lack of rain this year, had gondolas on the canal. We visited the Buggati Motor Museum in Mulhouse and whiled away an afternoon there; it’s about an hour's drive from Saint Nabor. Didn’t get to Strasbourg as we ran out of time. There are a number of other beautiful Alsace towns within easy driving distance. Audrey, our host, was very attentive and extremely helpful. We believe that for touring the area, Gîte Le 1602 is a great base in Northern Alsace.
