Overview
Hôtel Itzalpea is located in the heart of the village of St Jean Pied de Port, in the Basque country. This hotel features a traditional tearoom and comfortable accommodation. The guestrooms at Itzalpea are individually decorated with warm wooden furnishings. They all come with a private bathroom and a TV. Every morning a breakfast is served. Guests can relax in the lounge area with books and board games. The hotel is a 40-minute drive from Espelette village and 1 hour by car from the beaches. Free public parking is available nearby. This hotel consists of two floors with no elevator facilities.

The location is just outside the walls of the village's old quarter, so very close to everything I needed to do while I was there. There is a small restaurant/bar connected to the hotel, which offers good food at reasonable prices. The lady who received me and checked me in, who I presume was the owner, was really lovely and kind.

Found hotel easily from the station. A couple of bars and restaurants close by. Pilgrim office over on block. Camino route also over one block

Lovely place to stay for two nights at the start of my Camino. Clean and very comfortable. The best bed so far.
