“Not bad but not great either. I’ve had several better in St Jean it’s ok”
Beds rather than bunks. Attention to detail with keeping backpacks outside although some guests ignored the rule and nothing was done about that.

I am a returning pilgrim to this Gite You have a single bed for the price of a bunk which is a great way to start your camino. The facilities are more than sufficient for the location. The host is wonderful and always helpful. 5 min walk from. The train station on the doorstep of the route. Also a supermarket 5 mins walk away. I will be returning in the future.

“Budget accommodation with some issues.”
Initially very positive with good communication from the host. We informed of our expected time of arrival and were provided with a contact number to alert the host. When we arrived the number would not connect and neither would the others in the window of the building, so I sent several emails which were not answered. This resulted in us waiting outside for an hour after a long days travelling when the problem could have been solved by emailing us the code for the door earlier in the day. It could also have been an issue with our phones/network issues, though we did eventually get through. The delay meant that 99% of the local places to eat either closed or stopped serving food by the time we dumped our backpacks and went out in search of a meal. (Thankfully we found Le Patio open and had a very nice meal with friendly hosts). Once inside there was literally only myself and my son there as it's very early in the Camino season, but it would still have been nice to see someone's face to welcome you. As we didn't bring bedding we were hoping to hire some (as per their booking.com options, though as no-one was there this was not an option which was not ideal either. The dormitory was clean and well maintianed generally and when I did speak to the host on the phone she seemed friendly and amenable. Another negative I have to mention however was the light in the bathroom which went off after 5 seconds...not ideal when you are trying to use the loo at 3am! In the end I had to wave my hand in front of the sensor almost constantly to keep it on.. Overall it is what it is - basic accommodation on a budget, but if I ever came again i would only.stay here again as a last option. Perhaps our experience would have been completely different in high season? But we'll never know. Currently staying at the Albergue De Ronchesvalles which is fantastic but not on Booking.com
