“Lovely stay in quiet and beautiful chateau”

Beautiful period property, being lovingly restored by owners with great style. The rooms were all beautifully and uniquely decorated with flair. The chateau is set in beautiful grounds and wonderfully peaceful. The owners could not have done more to make us feel welcome and to accommodate us, including organising taxis to take us to dinner at very short notice.

“We loved it”

We arrived in the midst of a heatwave and on arrival we sat on the grass in front of the Chateau under an enormous Oak tree to cool down after our ride up from the Loire. Vincent, the owner and host, promptly brought us a cold drink. We felt immediatly welcome. The Chateau has been tastefully renovated. Our room and en suite bathroom were beautifully decorated and very well appointed with everything we could have wanted. A refreshing dip in the pool and cold local beer in the orchard was gorgeous. Dinner was simple, at our request, delicious local pate with a fresh baguette, salted butter and bottle of ice cold Rose enjoyed in the Chateau garden. Continental breakfast was perfect with local produce and our bikes were locked in the barn overnight. It is a little way off the Loire cycle route but it was one of the highlights of our 10 day trip around Brittany and Loire and would highly recommend it. If we are passing this way again we will make a point of staying again.

It is a beautiful historic building, lovingly restored. Extremely comfortable bed and modern shower. Wonderful evening meal and breakfast. The swimming pool was a real bonus. Vincent is a very attentive host.

“Fantastic Château stay!”

Everything! A really warm welcome from the hosts and ensured we had everything we could need. We were travelling with our 8 month year old baby and they provided seats for the breakfast room and a lovely cot for the bedroom. The property has huge charm and the ample grounds were beautiful for a walk around the lake and through the woods... we even saw some deer! Breakfast was delicious, with local jams and we made good use of the well equipped kitchen for self catering our dinners. The host offered us some excellent local wine and gave a very good explanation of their complexity. The swimming pool area was lovely and we enjoyed with our baby. The room was lovely, very comfortable bed and the modern shower huge and powerful! It felt a real privilege to stay at a chateau, and the experience was exactly as we hoped for. Would highly recommend it to anyone to stay!

“A touch of splendour”

Warm welcome by owners and staff. The chateau is clearly being very lovingly restored. The bedroom was large, quiet and very comfortable. Enjoyed a wonderful breakfast of assorted local and organic produce. We would return!

“Very charming place to stay!”

Château l'Escale is a very charming place to stay, situated in a calm and well-kept private park. It is located on a hill some 30 mins by bike off the bike route "la Loire a Vélo". It is a tastefully renovated manor house with a heated pool in a covered greenhouse. We were staying there with our kids and had two beautiful rooms with a separate bathroom and a private balcony. All rooms are very clean and nicely renovated. Breakfast is lovely and make sure you ask for the home-made dinner, should you travel by bike (as there are no restaurants nearby). It is also possible to prepare a meal in the guest kitchen. We could leave our bikes in a secured shelter on the premises. The landlord is very nice and helpful and did everything to make our stay an unforgettable experience - thank you so much for your hospitality!

“A really lovely stay in a beautiful chateau.”

The location was lovely and the chateau was beautiful - comfortable while retaining lots of original features. The bathroom was large and modern. The large covered swimming pool was fabulous, with a lovely garden to sit in afterwards. There's a lounge for guests to use too. Breakfast in the morning was good and you can book an evening meal too (we left it too late, our fault). Friendly and polite hosts. Good value for money too.
